How To Start A PinkGap chapter?

Where should I begin with?

Whether you decide to start from a tutoring group or host guest speaker events at your school with friends, you can join our community and get support from us for your chapter.

How to get started?

  • Firstly, read through the chapter toolkit.
  • Register your chapter once your first meeting is scheduled. Once submitted, if accepted, you’ll become an official PinkGap chapter!
  • Now, as a chapter leader, you hold the reigns. Anyone can make a chapter, and you just have to follow our guide to get started!

PinkGap Purpose & Mission

Our Mission:

PinkGap is a female student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to achieving gender equality and quality education through free tutoring, guest speaker events, and conducting impassioned discussions with engaged peers and volunteers on the empowerment of all girls, youth and women globally.

Chapter Mission:

Support PinkGap and encourage peers to empowering girl, youth and women by host guest speaker events and tutoring sessions monthly.

Chapter Expectations

  • Host at least one meeting a month.
  • Share your (guest speaker, tutoring, activities) event picture with us through our email!
  • Spread the word about PinkGap locally!

Chapter Leadership

You don’t need to have all these positions, but it is may help to have these positions in order to best run your chapter accordingly.

  • President - communicates with PinkGap & runs chapter meetings and members.
  • Vice President - organizes members, runs social media, and takes attendance or notes if necessary.
  • Treasurer - organizes fundraising & manages funds

Find an Advisor

  • For high school student only, it is required to select a teacher or staff who can support your chapter.
  • Kindly email or talk to them about your mission and goals for your PinkGap chapter.
    • If they’d be willing to be your advisor, let us know who they are!

Planning your First Meeting

  • Decide on the date of the first meeting.
  • Communicate and confirm with advisor.
  • Welcome your new members!
  • Print this Sign in Sheet to collect member information.
  • Brainstorm ideas on fundraising and ways to find guest speakers.
  • Decide next meeting date and time.

Recruiting Members

  • Spread the word with your friends and classmates!
  • Use morning announcements, flyers, social media, post etc…
  • Ask your teachers to share about this chapter.
    • Perhaps ask if your team can help with after-school tutoring!
  • Let people know that they can receive community service hours for doing tutoring and help with event hosting.

Managing Members

This would be the Vice President’s role.

  • Have the Sign in Sheet
  • Create an email list and organize member’s info
    • Update email group and Member Information sheet after every meeting
    • Perhaps create a group on Remind to stay connect with your members!

Engaging Members

  • Notify members of meeting dates, times, and locations; send reminders.
  • Ask members to take action:
    • Create posters/flyers - Recruitment Flyers Template
    • Start emailing guest speakers! - Outreach Template
    • Have your members and friend repost the flyers via Story
  • Acknowledge OUTSTANDING members.
  • ALWAYS record your members and your volunteering hours.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

While our chapters are primarily focused on event hosting, you’re welcome to:

  • Visit a local women-led Startups and lead Q&A Conversation etc.
  • Have a after school catch up! Gather your members to help students who need tutoring support!
  • Consider take a video about your club and share it on the morning announcement.
