Reminder

If at any point during the week you begin to feel ill / sick / uncertain, please do not come in!

(We will set up a Zoom meeting for you)

Breakfast 8:00–9:00, start at 9:00, lunch at 12:00

We have a few “plenary” sessions but otherwise the schedule is totally flexible

We end at 15:00 every day

“Hack week” meetings can be intense, and we want you to have time to spend as you want to

Feel free to continue working at the Flatiron Institute (11th floor), or go enjoy NYC!

The meeting space

We have this (large) room + two other (smaller) rooms for working and breaking into smaller groups

Use them as you wish!

We do not have a Slack workspace but feel free to self-organize another communication mechanism

The point of this meeting

My main goal for this meeting is to create connections

(across astronomy subdomains, JAX expertise levels, career stage and position)

It would be awesome if we could build upon the connections we make this week to build/improve/plan astro infrastructure software related to JAX

That means the stakes are low! (You do not need to leave this week with a finished software project)

Leaving with a plan for contributing to a new package, or an existing package, or for how to improve your own research code, or with a better understanding of how JAX can help you are all great outcomes!

The point of this meeting

My main goal for this meeting is to create connections

Because of this, we want us all to share updates throughout the week:

Everyone will do a “wrap-up” slide on Friday afternoon

Everyone has also been randomly assigned to either a morning check-in or afternoon wrap-up on Tues/Weds/Thurs to share a 3 minute update!
