Emergency Medical Responder�(EMR/ECA)

The Emergency Medical Responder Course is designed to instruct lay rescuers and other potential first responders in introductory and rudimentary prehospital emergency medical care knowledge and techniques. Common types of students include those licensed are Firefighters or Law Enforcement Officers, or company / corporate emergency responders. This course meets or exceeds the requirements for the Department of Transportation Emergency Medical Responder National Standard Curriculum, the National EMS Education Standards, and is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Be at least 17 years old
High School Diplomas or GED
Basic computer usage skills
Compliance with state laws regarding criminal background
Complete all enrollment documents

Requirements for Course Completion

Attain a Passing Score on 70% or more of all course assignments.
Achieve a passing score on each module exam
Attain a passing score on the Final Exam
Attain a passing score on the TDSHS Jurisprudence Exam
Complete skills day.
Adhere to the maximum course timeframe

No clinicals are required for this course. Students may opt to do a non-medical ride along with NWCH if they so choose.
