Overview

  • The Hudson Valley Council continues to improve efficiency with its record keeping, and making the advancement process easier for those involved at the unit level.
  • In the past, recording advancement of our scouts was done on multipart paper forms. The Internet Advancement site moves that process into the electronic age. All Advancement MUST be submitted via this system, no exceptions.

7 of 29

Overview

  • Using this system ensures the unit roster is in synch with ScoutNet
  • Advancement can only be recorded if the scout is properly registered and pre-requisites are met.
  • This will increase accuracy and speed the process of completing the advancement report
  • Will ensure the latest advancement requirements are met before permitting the advancement to be completed

8 of 29

Overview

  • At this time, a signed advancement report, printed using this system, must be sent to the Council Office as one of the last steps to complete the report
  • The report is required to purchase rank badges from the Scout Shop
  • Entering advancements promptly helps keep reports at the council/national level accurate

Past Advancement Reports

This pop-up displays a list of past advancement reports which you can pull up. It's like a time machine!

21 of 29

Now that you've chosen your Scout, find the award and enter the date earned into the text field. Then click Save.

22 of 29

Multiple Award Entry - First Select the Award

Instead of choosing the Scout first, choose the award first when multiple Scouts earned the same advancement. Summer camp woes be gone!

23 of 29

Now the award is chosen. When did the Scouts earn it? Enter that date here and click Next.

24 of 29

Now we've selected which award and dated it. The only thing left is to choose the Scouts who earned the award. Then click Save.

Back at the Unit Roster

Home base. We've entered in a number of advancements. Time to submit them to ScoutNet - or "Checkout" to complete the shopping analogy. Click Next when ready.

Confirm and Submit the Report

Use Review Advancement Report to confirm your work. When satisfied click Submit to Council. This is the point of no return! Beware!

28 of 29

Available Reports

Unit Advancement Report - A full unit-wide report of all advancement for all currently registered Scouts.

Member Advancement Report - A full report of all advancement for one selected Scout. This is useful to conduct an audit on Life Scouts.

Advancement Report - Replaces the "red sheets" and must be turned in to council to complete the process. It will list all advancements for your unit in this transaction.
