JOHN L. BASSANI
William Prager Medal
Congratulations to John Bassani, Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, on winning the Society of Engineering Science (SES) Prager Medal.
Bassani was awarded for “contributions to the mechanics of materials in the areas of dislocation mechanics, crystal plasticity, texture evolution, creep fracture, interfacial fracture, grain boundaries, and bio-hydrogels, using methods that link atomistic modeling, continuum mechanics, and computation.”
The SES Prager medal is given in recognition of outstanding research contributions in either theoretical or experimental solid mechanics or both.
