Pražský hrad

Prague castle is the most important Czech landmark.

Since 1918 it has been the seat of the president of the Czech Republic.

When you are in Prague, the capital of the Czech republic, you have to visit it - nice view.

Karlův most

Charles Bridge is the oldest standing bridge over the Vltava River in Prague and the second oldest surviving bridge in the Czech Republic.

It was build in year 1357 from sandstone blocks.

Charles Bridge is built in gothic architecture.

Plzeňský prazdroj

The brewery was founded in 1842

It gives tours, it takes about two hours

Beer was already brewed after the town was founded in 1295.

My mom said - My favorite monument in Pilsen is Pilsen Synagogue.

My dad said - i think people opinion changed positively because they have more freedom and they can express their opinion on Czech monuments.

Mrs.Beránková said - Yes, he cares because he wants to have a beautiful environment.

Mr. Štětina said - Yes, because many buildings were demolished under communism.

Bratislavský hrad

Bratislavský hrad is amongst the most popular landmarks and architectural feats in Slovakia. It is situated on a hill, right above Danube, the second longest river in Europe. The castle dates back to the 9th century, but it has undergone many reconstructions since then. The whole area of the castle is huge and the actual castle building with the 4 towers only takes up about half of the whole place.

Fun facts about Bratislavský hrad

  • The castle appears on the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins.
  • If you are lucky enough to have good weather, you can see the Alps from there
  • It used to be the royal residence of Mária terézia
  • The castle houses the Slovak national museum

Hrad Beckov

Hrad beckov is a historical ruin located in the town of Beckov in the Trenčín region. It is situated on a hill above the longest river in Slovakia, Váh. It’s history dates back to the 12th century. Even though the castle is not completely intact anymore, it’s remnants still display the medieval architecture.

  • In the year 1729 there was a big fire that caused the castle to be completely abandoned
  • It has served as a royal fortress and noble residence.
  • The castle has withstood many attacks from the Turks and Tatars
  • The castle’s history is documented in the Beckov museum

Kaštieľ svätý Anton

Kaštieľ svätý Anton is a very well preserved chateau in the baroque-classical style. It is Located in the village of Svätý Anton, Banská Bystrica region. The chateau served as a residence for Slovak noble families. Construction was finished in the year 1750.

Fun facts about Kaštieľ svätý Anton

  • The building now serves as a museum with collections of historical furniture, hunting trophies and art, showcasing the lifestyle of noble families
  • The design symbolises the calendar year, with 4 entrances representing the 4 seasons, 12 chimneys for the 12 months, 52 rooms as in 52 weeks and 365 windows symbolising the 365 day in a year
