Oregon Battle of the Books at Maplewood

OBOB is upon us and we couldn't be more excited! If you are unfamiliar with OBOB here is some information to get you acquainted...

OBOB is a statewide reading competition spanning 3rd to 12th grade. Each year new book titles are chosen by the state OBOB committee and they are always amazing! Grades 3-5 can participate in elementary school (at Maplewood 3rd reads 8 books, 4th & 5th read 16 books). Students form teams, read books and compete game show style answering questions about the books. It's a great way for kids to be exposed to a variety of great books, learn how to work with a team, practice reading comprehension and demonstrate their sportsmanship.

Our students have formed their teams and have (hopefully) been reading all the amazing books! We will start our battles on February 3rd. Battles will be held every day during lunch/recess time from 2/3-2/14. Our final battle assembly will be held in the gym on Thursday February 20th at 12:45pm, this will be open for families to attend.

To make this all happen we need volunteers to help moderate our battles! No experience necessary. All battles are held 11:45-12:45. Please see the sign up for more information and to volunteer! https://signup.com/go/xLsYhTw

To learn more about OBOB and get updates please visit our webpage, https://www.maplewoodpta.com/obob/ or contact your OBOB parent volunteer team maplewoodobob@gmail.com

Thank you for your support!!
