Things to keepin mind

  • Graduate Studies said most people make more than the minimum
    • our data supports this claim
    • however, this data is incomplete
  • The OGS minimum only has to do with tuition remission, most departments use their own guidelines for determining stipends
  • According to OGS, the new budget model gives department more freedom over finances, things might change positively over next couple of years, now is a good time to voice concerns!

Next Steps

  • Meet with college deans
    • Find out about their guidelines
    • Discuss barriers to increasing stipend levels, such as funding from the state
    • How to decrease stipend disparities among colleges and departments
    • Discuss new budget model & its implications to grad student funding

  • Work (upon request) with departmental GSAs to voice concerns regarding stipends
