Your Assignment

The Survey

First, you will work as a group to develop some research questions and survey questions

Next, as a class, we will send out the survey online and make sure to get a robust sample of respondents, including ourselves

Finally, we will analyze and present the data in group presentation

Group Presentation

Each group was assigned a topic and each member will ask a question on the survey.

Quiz #2 asked What was your research question?

Quiz #3 asks What was your question on the survey?

Homework: What was your research hypothesis?

Introduce Your Topic

In broad terms, explain your topic. For example, “Drug Laws are changing as each state chooses whether to legalize. For our research question we asked . . .”

Narrow it down, “The question we asked is important because it shows how people feel about XXXXXX”

The Chart

Your graph should be a stacked bar chart from Excel. Your chart must be:

Explanation

Write a few sentences to explain the main point: “This chart demonstrates that people who XXXX are more likely to agree that XXXX”

Compare your criminal justice topic with an approach from another part of the world. We will discuss the following countries in class:

5%	Every part of the assignment was completed	1 point each: __Did the group answer the assignment (as opposed to something else)? __Does the presentation include facts and new information? __Are all questions answered? __Was the project done thoughtfully? __Did the group operate as a team?
10%	Every participant spoke during the presentation:	2 point each: __Did everyone show up (unless excused)? __Did everyone speak? __Did work seem to be evenly distributed? __Was everyone prepared? __Did someone bring the presentation?

Ideas for Success:

Talk through Blackboard with your group twice a week or create a regular Zoom meeting.
Divide the work and agree to work on the slides together via Google Slides at the same time.
Email me early drafts of your slides so I can help add input
Keep your group tight. If someone isn’t participating, let them go. Email me their name and group and I will reassign them.
Complete all the quizzes which will help you structure your assignment.
