Your Parent’s Choice

Your Teacher’s Choice

  • If your parent/s disapprove of AI, then you won’t use it.
  • Simply let your teacher know that this is not an option for your home.
  • If your teacher disapproves of AI, then you won’t use it.
  • Openly ask questions if you are not sure.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Bias – At times, you may strongly or slightly disagree with the content that you find in an AI search. At times, the information will be VERY inaccurate.
  • Reach out to a mentor,a family member, yourparent/s, or your teacheras you examine whatyou discover.Image Credits

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Transparency and accountability in AI systems:
    • If your teacher has granted you permission to use AI on a particular assignment, your teacher will want you to cite that content.
    • Your teacher may even require that you include the entire search query with your assignment.
    • If you have any questions, let your teacher know. Do not reach out at 7:00 pm the night before the assignment is due. Ask questions before you start your research.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 1: Before you ever explore AI, be sure to getparent permission.
  • Number 2: Before starting any assignment, it is essential that you carefully read through the classroom syllabus your teacher provided you at the start of the term.

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 3: If you are uncertain as to whether or not you have permission to use AI on any assignment, pause and immediately connect with your teacher before proceeding.image credits: firefly.adobe.com

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 4: When using artificial intelligence, it is your responsibility to utilize any AI research with ethical discernment. There may be inaccurate information housed in that response. Or, you may find biases that are not helpful. Connect with a parent, a relative, a mentor, or your teacher for help in any situation like this.image credits

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 5: Whenever you turn in any assignment, even a draft, it is your responsibility to turn in ORIGINAL work. Simply modifying a few characteristics of the original search query, is not an original work. This is an example of cheating.Image credits: firefly.adobe.com

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 6: If your teacher has granted you permission to use AI on any assignment, it is your responsibility to cite any parts of that research in your project. At times, your teacher may require an entire copy of the original search that you performed.LINK HERE

WHEN AND HOW CAN I USE AI?

  • Number 7: If at any point you are uncertain as to what your teacher requires or what is prohibited in your classroom, it is your responsibility to connect with your teacher in a timely fashion. Do not expect your teacher to respond to your email at 11:00 p.m. the night before the assignment is due. That is not a proper amount of time for your teacher to respond to your question. image credits: adobe.firefly.com
