Follow the instructions to install. Once installed, direct participants to the “puzzle piece” up in the extension tab. This is the extension manager. Find the EquatIO icon and click the pin next to it to pin it to your toolbar. It will remain there anytime you are logged into Chrome on any device.

What is EquatIO?

EquatIO software allows you to create mathematical equations, formulas and more directly on your computer.

Although EquatIO is often thought of as a math tool, EquatIO also incorporates science and math formulas, Periodic Table, Scientific Calculator, Molecular Viewer… and drawing anything within Docs, Slides, Sheets AND Forms!

Easily add equations, formulas, graphs and more to G Suite for Education apps.

*In all of the Google apps the toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen. The icons are all different methods of input, the beaker represents science tools.

*On regular websites, the toolbar floats on the top right corner of the screen and only includes the screen reader, scientific calculator, plus 2 other science tools.

*EquatIO is compatible with mobile, there are more videos on that for Level 2.

*EquatIO has a MathSpace accessible 2 ways: 1 is to input math on a Google app, the other is to create standalone spaces that can include multiple pages that standalone and can be assigned to students via link or even Google Classroom.

Workflow is simply how do we, as teachers, translate this new tool into classroom use with, and for, students. It is important to remind participants that EquatIO is simply an extension used to easily put math into a Google application or a standalone EquatIO mathspace.

At the very least, we want participants to know that in the end this is a Google Doc, like many other Google Docs you have created and assigned through Google Classroom. It’s just that the math being used is now interactive on both the teacher and student end through the use of a Google Doc.

You can show the quick tutorial, or if confident with the use of Google Classroom, show how to create an assignment of a Doc used for this training (perhaps the one from slide 19, or you can use the copy of the training template).
