SAP describes the Fiori 3.0 as

  • “coherency”
  • “scalable”
  • “conversational”
  • “intelligence”

The latest version is mostly about enhancing the experience.

10 of 30

SAP describes the Fiori 3.0 “Coherency” as

  • One of the main priorities of business applications is a unified experience – especially for the users navigating across different products.
  • For this purpose, one font has been established along with a defined set of icons and colors that are the same across every app. Moreover, now users gain access to unified menus in every system.

11 of 30

SAP describes the Fiori 3.0 “Scalable” as

  • Another modification being implemented is increasing content scalability. The most relevant content will be moved to the main dashboards and other presented with maximum efficiency.
  • A shift from tires to cards guarantees more content for end users, business functions (including common ones), set of core settings, user profiles, and shell bar. This will also provide scalable static and dynamic clock building, like cards.
  • SAP assures deeper content integration which is also mentioned as one of the significant customer pains.

12 of 30

SAP describes the Fiori 3.0 “Conversational” as

  • An entirely new element is CoPilot. Having in mind providing the highest level of simplicity in handling Fiori, SAP is creating a solution easing navigation across applications and performing everyday tasks. CoPilot will mostly serve as a daily assistant. We will be able to ask it, e.g., launching apps for replacements, the newest information regarding sales of our product or scheduling a meeting.
  • Communication with CoPilot takes place through the natural language. Currently, we already know that we will be able to write and speak with it.

SAP describes the Fiori 3.0 “Intelligence” as

  • High-level flows across all products and their landscapes (now they vary a lot).
  • Meaningful user stories.
  • Keeping very specialized applications,
  • Comprehensive object pages with functionalities overview.
  • Delivering information relevant for the specific context and time.
  • Continuously developed machine learning techniques (like recommendations, automation, rankings, and proposals).

SAP Fiori launchpad – the web entry point

Flat tiles and new visualization for links

To help users fit more apps on a page and give them more flexibility, as well as to help them to prioritize their work, they can now use flat tiles in spaces and pages in addition to the already available tile sizes. Additionally, links are now represented as small tiles and flat tiles. Note that links in the classic homepage are also visualized in this way now.

SAP Fiori launchpad – A My Home space giving users their own personal start page

A popular feature with users of the classic home page is the ability to define one or more groups with their favorite tiles, i.e. applications, so that they are immediately available after logging into the system. With SAP S/4HANA 2021, a My Home space is provided as a standard feature in “Space and Pages”. It provides such a start page for users, with no effort for administrators.

SAP Fiori launchpad – Performance: improving back navigation from one application to another

A good user experience rests on having good performance, i.e. fast response times. Navigation between apps is handled by the SAP Fiori launchpad shell. SAP claims to have made a significant improvement with SAP S/4HANA 2021 by reducing the response time for navigating back to the previous page to almost zero.

SAP Fiori launchpad – Data loading (no need to click “Go”)

SAP now reduce the number of clicks needed when first opening SAP Fiori apps with overview pages or lists: the data is automatically loaded if filter values are set rather than presenting users with an empty page so that they have to then press the Go button.

SAP Fiori launchpad – Relative date selection / Semantic date selection

SAP Fiori elements now supports the selection of relative and semantic dates. That means you can define a filter with a date like “today” or “yesterday”, or specify the “last X weeks”. This makes users’ lives much easier, since they don’t have to continuously change the filter date day by day. Note that this only works for date fields where the application has enabled this kind of dynamic date selection.

SAP Fiori launchpad – Aligning quantities and amounts with different decimal places and different length units

Modern UIs have quantities and their units of measure in one field, or amounts and their currency code, for example “120.32 KG” or “12,000.00 USD”. However, listing these in a table is challenging with different length units or currencies, and different numbers of decimal places. Users want the unit of measure to be right-aligned in the table, and at the same time have all the numbers aligned so that the decimal point is aligned vertically.

SAP Fiori launchpad – Smart filter bar: highlighting of type-ahead suggestions

Regarding the filter bar, we have also improved the type-ahead so that the text you have entered is highlighted in the type-ahead drop-down box, as you can see here, where the user has entered “fr” in the supplier field.

SAP Fiori 3.0 2022 – Horizon

  • The new Horizon theme introduces signature design elements which focus on helping people get their job done faster, more intuitively and with better outcomes.
  • The Horizon preview is supported by all the application technologies provided by SAP S/4HANA, i.e. SAPUI5, SAP GUI for HTML, Web Dynpro for ABAP and the Web Client. Figure 2 shows examples of screens using the first three of these technologies. Since all three screens shown there have a width less than 1440 pixels, the central search field has been collapsed to the search icon on the right.

26 of 30

SAP Fiori 3.0 2022 – Search field visible and centered

  • The search field is now always open and placed centrally at the top of the screen, so that you can type your search term directly, without first having to click on the search icon.

SAP Fiori 3.0 2022 – Add tiles directly to My Home

  • The My Home space and page is purely for personalizing the start page: users have full control of what appears there, and how they want to group their favorite tiles and links into sections. Until now, if personalization of the launchpad has been switched off, users needed to use the App Finder to add tiles to My Home. Now, even if personalization of pages is switched off, users who see a tile on one of the launchpad pages can directly add that tile to their My Home page, by first selecting “Edit Home Page” in the user actions menu, and then using the context menu on the tile, and choosing Add to My Home.

  • Users can choose to include the filter settings, whether to use archive format, the paper size and orientation, font size, as well as advanced features such as enabling accessibility, fit to page, or enabling the user to sign the document.
