Mood Appeal is an app that assists users in finding a specific food that can improve their current mood if needed. Users can also locate where to find that product nearby, along with suggesting alternative options. Users can also scan the ingredient list and learn if it’s a good choice or not.

The social issue:

Young adults usually don't have time in their day for a proper meal. They often resort to using food delivery apps, which tend to be unsatisfying. People's moods change due to differences in lifestyle and diet.

  • A varied, healthy diet improves your memory, concentration and can even increase your level of optimism and protect you from depression.

  • Teens who eat a low-quality diet have an 80 percent higher chance of developing depression.

  • Proper fuel for the brain include lots of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in order to function properly.

  • It can be dangerous if one limits foods that are necessary for development and daily fuel. Fasting or heavily dieting also greatly impacts your mood in negative ways.

because different foods can impact our emotions, both positively & negatively.

He has pressure from exams, projects, figuring out what he wants to do with his life. As a result, he doesn't get to eat a full meal in the mornings due to night classes. In the morning he feels unenergized to get out of bed and lacks motivation.

Takeaways

Impact:

The impact that we hope to gain from our app is to have people have a positive outlook on food, gaining a sense of clarity on what foods can hurt & or uplift people moods. Also, we want people to be comforted and provide nutritional facts that will benefit them long term.

What you learned:

We learned that in order to create a fully functional app, we needed to sympathize with our target audience from a first perspective.

Next Steps

Our next steps for the future regarding our project is to change the position of different elements in our app. For example, the position of icons, swirls,

If we had more time we would incorporate another idea such as using AI to detect different moods based on scanning users facial features.

A feature that allows users to play a mini game for a chance to win free ingredients and free food of their choice. This way people who can’t afford certain meals or grocery items.
