Research suggests that education is one of the most important factors in slowing climate change.

Kwauk and Wintrop (2021) highlight studies that suggest if just 16% of high school students in middle- and high-income countries were educated about climate change, there would be a tremendous reduction of carbon emissions (nearly 20 gigatons) by 2050. Through education, not simply about climate change itself, but the “green skills” and habits of mind needed to address the effects of climate change, more sustainable future becomes possible

What about modules 2 and 3?

  • Module 2 is an online course (using Coursera- similar to Canvas) hosted by the American Museum of Natural History.
    • There is a certificate at the end of this course. Download it.
  • Module 3 will take place halfway through your Clinical II placement next semester. We’ll spend some time identifying good resources for teaching about climate change in your specific student teaching placement classroom and plan lessons to use.
