STRATEGIC FIT – PHASE I

The CBSS over Fiber project is an effort to extend the CBSS service to customers that are served by CFI Active-E and GPON transport. This effort will be a key factor in Cox Business service interoperability efforts and assist with CB Sales Transformation in the future.

    • The project will be run in several phases:
      • Phase 1: CBSS over CFI GPON and CBSS over CFI Active-E – must be an existing CFI customer
      • Phase 2: CPE Consolidation Phase 2 – Interoperability Product - (CFI and CBSS on one Gateway with multiple products using Service Flows)
      • Phase 3: CBSS over XGSPON

TARGET CUSTOMERS

Phase I Rules of Engagement

  1. To qualify for CBSS Over Fiber- The customer must have existing CFI service installed, with an active ONT onsite
  2. Surveillance and Detection can both be sold over all transports
    • Detection is already designed to be serviced on any transport
  3. ADC – Commercial Video and existing Pro-Video Customer MACs ONLY
    • NEW Commercial Video installations – with CFI on premise
    • Pro Video (non-compliant ADC equipment) Sales are no longer permitted
    • Pro Video MACs only – Move/Add/Change - Existing Pro Video customers who are requesting an upgrade from HFC to CFI, due to their existing CFI service on premise OR moving to a location where they will be upgrading to CFI are eligible. CFI install completion still required first.
  4. Digital Watchdog (DW) Sales or Exceptions – Not Permitted
  5. If customer is requesting CFI service – CFI service must be built, installed and turned up onsite with closed workorders and active account services prior to completing a sale for CBSS Over Fiber.
  6. Sales Reps are to follow CB BAU processes and best practices with a warm transfer to CB Sales for CFI selling. Once CFI installation is complete, the CB Sales Rep will follow BAU processes and best practices by directing the prospect to the BSC team in their market.
  7. CBI and CFI Service Tiers will not be dictated or checked with the CBSS service. The Architecture supports a dedicated modem for CBSS Over Fiber, as it does today for CBSS Over HFC.

SOAKR / IP Management

SOAKR is an updated version of the legacy Cox application Source Of All Knowledge (SOAK). From a business perspective, SOAKR is used to manage the allocation of individual IP static addresses and CIDR blocks to Cox business customer accounts. These static IP addresses are allocated through SOAKR by Cox CSRs during a customer care workflow initiated by the creation or update of customer accounts in ICOMS. SOAKR accesses IP address block ranges that are designated for SOAKR use by the Corporate IP Management team using IP Control. IP Control is a 3rd party application used by the Corporate IP Management team to manage all IP space for Cox. In the spring of 2020, SOAK was replaced by SOAKR. SOAKR leverages a newer more intuitive web interface and a new database architecture. Through the use of a RESTful API middle tier, SOAKR now works more closely with IP Control.
