History of Title I

  • Title I is part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act that was introduced in 1965, now known as No Child Left Behind
  • NCLB stressed accountability; signed into law in 2002.

How does Title I help my school?

  • By providing supplemental resources and academic opportunities for those students most at risk for not meeting State and Local standards.

Title I Instruction

  • Title I is extra, beyond what is already provided to all students.

Who Can Receive Title I Services?

  • ANY student identified as experiencing academic difficulties within school guidelines. These students will be provided timely assistance to help them meet the State’s challenging content standards.
