Engage in Forest bathing

Screened at over 60 International Film Festivals and Winner of 14 Prestigious Awards, this film is a first-person adaptation of the practice of taking a short, leisurely visit to a forest for health benefits. The practice originated in Japan where it is called shinrin-yoku (森林浴). Proven by scientists to benefit physical as well as mental health Shinrin-Yoku helps to lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost immunity and mood and improve overall feelings of wellbeing.

  • Take some mindful breathes
  • Calm your body
  • Find a comfortable spot
  • Watch video quietly
  • At the end close your eyes and think about how you feel :)

Learning about Service

Week 4

31 of 51

  • Questions to consider for discussion:
    • How is this image related to Service work?
    • Have you ever had someone make a decision that would affect you, but they didn’t ask you your opinion about it? How did that make you feel?
    • Have you ever tried to help someone, but then you found that the “help” you offered wasn’t quite right? Why not?
    • Sometimes we try to take action to help someone without ever getting to know them or without ever learning about them. This often leaves them feeling that they have no control over their own lives.
