About the Series

Backpacker Bubs is a series of rhyming picture books that follow two Dubai based children – the ‘Backpacker Bubs’ – on their worldwide adventures as they explore new places and learn about landmarks, animals, food, local culture and more!

The stories bring imagination and adventure together as expats, locals, and tourists alike can follow the activities of the Backpacker Bubs through real life day-trips or holidays, and experience what they read about for themselves.

Backpacker Bubs can be enjoyed by everyone who wants to share their love for travel and adventure with the next generation.

The stories are specifically targeted towards children aged 5 and under. The illustrations aim to capture the interest of infants, while the simple rhyming stories are fun for preschoolers who are starting to learn how to read.

The Backpacker Bubs series starts with perhaps the most quintessential United Arab Emirates travel bucket list experience … A Desert Safari!

The Backpacker Bubs will meet desert wildlife, tanoura dancers and enjoy some local food.

In their second adventure, the Backpacker Bubs visit the beach, where they make sandcastles and enjoy the marine life.

The Stories

We believe that when it is not possible to go out and explore … there is nothing more MAGICAL than immersing yourself in a book and letting your imagination take you on an adventure … BACK IN TIME … or OUT OF THIS WORLD!

In Jurassic Adventure, the Backpacker Bubs guess different types of dinosaurs using clues about their size or what they are eating.

And in Going to Space the Backpacker Bubs learn about the solar system.

Educational Activities

Learn to read with our ‘Explore the Alphabet’ book!

But the fun does not stop there!

To keep little explorers busy both at home and on the road, we have developed:

• The ‘Backpacker Bubs Activity Backpack’ which will include colouring sheets, crayons, and plenty of space to carry some books!
• The ‘Backpacker Bubs – Explore the World’ interactive map with games including; naming oceans and continents, identifying where animals come from, and matching landmarks to their country.

Other product ideas include:

A Backpacker Bubs Passport to write about all your adventures, calendars and journals to plan trips, plush toys of our characters, travel gear and clothing, and last, but certainty not least … backpacks!

About the Author

Suna. J. Waheed is a British-Pakistani lawyer turned children’s author. Born and raised in the UK, Suna trained as a corporate lawyer in London before wanderlust and a love of Arabic cuisine lead her to Dubai. Almost a decade on, she is fully immersed in expat-life and is a working mum of two.

Suna loves to travel and hopes to inspire her little ones to become avid explorers. This love for travel, combined with a passion for reading and art, inspired her to create Backpacker Bubs.

About the Illustrator

Inspired by her artist mother, Mona Arjomand has been drawing since the age of four. Her love of art grew from a childhood hobby to a life passion, but it wasn’t until after graduation that she decided to pursue digital art professionally. Today Mona has a masters degree in animation and works on illustrations and 3D modelling.

When she is not busy bringing the adventures of the Backpacker Bubs to life, you will find her snuggled up in a cosy corner with her favourite books.
