I was a king of Wessex who lived over 1,100 years ago. I fought bravely against Viking invaders to protect my kingdom! I am important because I prevented the last English kingdom of Wessex falling to the Vikings. I also made good laws that made things fairer, and loved learning. I started schools and made sure important books were translated into English. Because of me, we English began our fight back against the Vikings … leading to the formation of England!
