Immunizations Required for 7th Grade

Vaccinations required prior to entry into the 7th grade consist of one dose of:

  • Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis, adolescent and adult formulation)
  • Menactra (meningococcal vaccine)

Please turn in documentation to:

  • MI nurse through the end of the school year
  • MMS nurse over the summer.

7th Grade Schedule

  • Six Period Schedule
    • 4 Core Academics (year-long): Math, LA, Science, Social Studies
    • Day 1 / Day 2 (year-long): PE + Art (band, orchestra, chorus, or visual art)
    • 1 Innovation Elective (one semester)
    • 1 Academic Elective (one semester)
  • Lunch for 7th grade is based on Neighborhood
    • “A” or “B” Lunch - This is not known until right before school starts
  • At MMS, students preference for courses is used to schedule rather than preference a Neighborhood or a friend.

Credit Flexibility

Credit Flexibility provides options for middle school students to earn graduation credits through alternative ways outside of regularly scheduled classes at Mason City Schools.

  • Incoming 7th Grade students can not apply for Credit Flexibility Until May of 2025. This will allow students to Credit Flex courses in the fall of 2025.
