Group 1-

Lesson Topic: Alessia, Donnie

  • Introduction: First, she will inform students that in this lesson they will learn the importance of consistency in scientific record keeping. She will outline methods to increase consistency across different "scientists" participating in their study, and ways they will record data about butterflies they see in their schoolyard. Diane decides to use the DVD video she received from the butterfly project to present the concept of "observation" and the importance of"consistency" in science.
  • Presentation: Shows a video of a butterfly, then demonstrates how to use the logbook to record its behavior using provided options, as well as its species. Then, she shows how to enter the written information into the computer through the butterfly database. Finally, she checks for understanding by asking questions to students.
  • Guided Practice: They watch another video and collectively record the observation on the board. Then they enter the information into the project database. They repeat this 2 more times with 2 different videos.
  • Independent Practice: Students begin the observation process, then record their findings into their logbooks and the database. They are given a handout with the steps if needed.

Lesson Topic: Jumping Jacks

  • Introduction: Tells them they are going to learn jumping jacks,

Presentation: Films it, goes over the attributes of the jumping jacks, plays the film for students.

  • Guided Practice: She asks the students to do jumping jacks with her.
  • Independent Practice: They practice jumping jacks in pairs

Group 3 - emma and chris

Lesson Topic: scenario 5-3

  • Introduction: Learning objective projected for students ("Students will learn to evaluate and simplify expressions by applying the order of operations and the properties of rational numbers."), teacher reviews math vocabulary
  • Presentation: Teacher takes time to write out tool (PEMDAS) and example, thinking aloud and modeling the correct procedure for students 3 times
  • Guided Practice: Each student practices with an example question on a whiteboard, then they review the material together in groups, then pairs
  • Independent Practice: He has students complete one evaluation using PEMDAS independently for an exit ticket

Lesson Topic: Jumping Jacks

  • Introduction: Teacher explains why class is going to learn how to do Jumping jacks to promote heart health and improve coordination. Teacher explains the steps of a lesson.
  • Presentation: Teacher Demonstrates how to do them correctly with arms and feet and correct timing. Also, teacher plays a recording.
  • Guided Practice: students pair up and ask each other to describe the steps. Distinguish between right and wrong characteristics of a jumping jack.
  • Independent Practice: video tape one another, replay video and discuss. Practice independently. Teacher assesses progress.
