Accelerate the youth revolution. For good.

2 of 20

RIVET is a new social enterprise bringing together brands, influencers, and NGOs to fund and amplify youth-led social change.

With decades of experience elevating young changemakers, RIVET’s founders have seen firsthand that young people don’t lack talent or imagination; they lack access to resources.

In response, we are creating the world’s first microfinance platform focused on young social innovators, funded by youth themselves. This engine will transform young people’s everyday purchases into philanthropic power for their generation’s ideas to change the world.

Created by, for, and with young people, RIVET represents the largest investment in youth-led social change. Ever.

HOW RIVET WORKs

5 of 20

challenge

Young social innovators lack access to startup capital

But over 85% of youth live in “capital deserts” where they have little access to the social or financial capital critical to launch new ideas.

In fact, last year only 0.002% of the $700B donated went to early-stage, youth-led social innovations.

Research shows that youth have been at the forefront of social innovation over the past 120 years.

How can we finance youth-led social change at scale?

6 of 20

opportunity

gen z controls $3 trillion in spending power. And they are very different consumers.

62% want brands to have social change initiatives they can join.

84% of teens screen products based on social impact.

61% pay more for sustainably produced products.

young consumers want to shop their values and brands are hungry for new approaches.

The power of the RIVET concept is we solve existing problems for our partners and no one needs to change their behavior.

Brands spend $650B each year marketing to youth. RIVET provides an authentic and accessible avenue for them to reach this coveted audience. From streaming to CPG to gaming to activewear, the possibilities for partnership are endless.

Young consumers purchase the products they love with a transparent percentage of their purchase funding youth-led initiatives.

Our global network of NGO partners distribute funds through existing relationships with young people.

As a charity, RIVET’s business model is transparent, simple and sustainable: RIVET keeps 10% of consumer-driven revenue to cover costs, 10% supports our NGO partners’ data and project management costs. This means 80% goes into the hands of young social entrepreneurs.

Our competitive advantage

RIVET’s core product is a data platform that tracks funds coming in and going out, as well as the impact of every project. Consumers know exactly where their investment is going, brands have powerful stories to amplify, and RIVET is understanding the insights and passion of millions of youth.

RIVET will invest millions in youth-led social innovation over the next decade.

Just as microfinance revolutionized access to start-up capital for the world’s most needy, this “micro-philanthropy” model, powered by young consumers, will fund 1 million new youth-led projects over the next decade, created by the most diverse group of young leaders ever.

RIVET provides additional capital (philanthropic and investments) behind the most promising ideas. Our first cohort of follow-on grantees are here: Meet the RIVET 20!

Not all will scale. But among those million new projects, will be thousands of truly game-changing ideas that will revolutionize how we work, learn, love, and care for each other and our planet.

Secure brand partners

After a series of successful pilots, we are looking for our next set of forward-thinking brands who want to ignite young people’s compassionate creativity, build stronger connections with GenZ and show real progress against ESG goals.

Raise Philanthropic launch funds

As a charity, RIVET will be completely self-sustaining by 2028. Until then we are looking for partners to provide the financial fuel to launch, learn, and scale.

Grow our YOUTH COMMUNITY

RIVET’s success will be driven by young people. We are focused on activating an initial community of 10,000 RIVETERS: youth supporters who will bolster RIVET’s legitimacy and urgency in the marketplace.

Where we’ve been. Where we’RE Headed.

Our consumer launch was August 12, 2023 (International Youth Day) with youth-led campaigns, brand partners, and a group of youth-focused influencers and celebrities.

Future focus

accomplishments

Over the past four years, RIVET has built a powerful, youth-driven brand; engaged 250 potential brand, NGO, and influencer partners; launched 8 brand partnerships which have funded over 1200 youth-led projects in 100+ countries around the world, and provided follow-on funding to 20 successful innovations.

leadership council

12 of 20

We all want to change the world. how often do we get the CHANCE?

The unique problems facing the world today aren't a secret: from the impacts of climate change to global poverty to the youth mental health crisis, most people feel compelled to do something, but struggle on how to begin.

In the midst of great success and privilege, many of us are searching for ways to contribute that are meaningful and impactful. And for parents, we want to raise children who are grounded, connected, and can experience the world outside of their bubbles. But how to engage in ways that aren’t just short-term or transactional, but authentic, reciprocal, and truly intergenerational?

Introducing RIVET’s Leadership Council. Your first step toward accelerating the youth revolution.

Ways for young people to participate

RIVET is for the entire family. Youth want to do more than just give to charity, they want to lead, connect, and offer their unique gifts to make a tangible difference.

Younger Leadership Council members (teens/tweens/young adults) can take on an important role at RIVET that is authentically aligned with their passions, talents, and wisdom.

This may include:

  • Providing advice to a young changemaker on their strategy;
  • Joining a brand focus group to help chart RIVET’s future partnerships;
  • Being part of our global youth design squad on Discord.

RIVET will then help translate this work onto their resumes, school applications, LinkedIn pages, or anywhere else that they want to showcase their impact and highlight the power of RIVET.

Leadership council topics

The Leadership Council will be called on to inform RIVET’s business strategy, explore emerging strategic opportunities, and ensure key success drivers are in place. Below are a few examples of strategic questions (illustrative rather than exhaustive):

  • A private equity firm is interested in making an investment that will be a hybrid philanthropic and investment vehicle for potential for-profit ventures that emerge in our pipeline. How might we structure that?
  • A RIVET grantee with a successful track record has received a $100,000 commitment from the EU but needs to put together a three-year budget and has no idea where to start.
  • A RIVET Design Fellow is finishing her service at RIVET and wants to explore career opportunities in the arts but has no idea how to communicate her RIVET tenure into a new field.
  • We are hosting an inaugural conference (RIVETCON) and trying to choose between London, Los Angeles, and Dubai. Which opportunity best aligns with our scale goals?

18 of 20

Is the leadership council right for you?

Our Three Guiding Principles:

  • No Egos. We are building an intentional community of brilliant and caring leaders who understand that our shared work is about impact.
  • No Busywork. We will only ask for what is essential to RIVET’s success.
  • No Guilt. You choose how you engage. We won’t hesitate to ask for what we need; you won’t hesitate to say yes or no based on your capacity & interest.

Gut Check:

  • We are curating a diverse, dynamic, and thoughtful community. Are you excited to work across generations and geographies?
  • We are radically transparent. This means we share the hard, messy stuff in addition to the celebratory wins. Are you comfortable engaging in the ups and the downs together?
  • We are a start-up, which means we are building this experience together. If you want something polished or catered, this won’t be that. Are you interested in designing, dreaming, and building the Leadership Council?
