Your Fun!

Whether it is something you do every week or even a holiday once a year, planning your ‘fun’ money monthly means that you know how much you have available when you need it

Holiday anyone?

  • Holidays are often a big extra bill that you need to save up for
  • Some people like to do lots of little short breaks
  • Some people like to have one long holiday
  • Some people like active or educational holidays
  • Some people like to just lie in the sun
  • Choose from the list below which most suits your needs and work out the cost
  • Before you start planning, check how much money you have left on your monthly planner and multiply by 12 to work out how much total cost you can afford in a year

Follow the links to find the perfect holiday for you. Work out a cost just for you and divide by 12 so that you can save for it monthly. Some people save for several years for a ‘big’ holiday.

Fun costs

Do you like:

  • Going shopping?
  • Going out with friends
  • Gaming?
  • Cinema?
  • Sports?
  • Eating out?
  • Bowling
  • Gym?

There is no point going to work if you aren’t going to also enjoy yourself in your down time, right?

Go back to you monthly spreadsheet. How much money do you have left every month? Can you afford a holiday? Do you even want one? Would you rather do other things?

Now use the ‘fun’ spreadsheet to work out what additional costs you need to include. Sometimes it is hard to afford the things that you want but over time people tend to get paid more and have more money saved up.

Overall extras

Take the total you have worked out and add it in to your monthly spreadsheet. Hopefully you have left some money every month so that you can save up or pay for emergencies (what if the TV breaks!).
