K-8 Hold (Contact Dual Enrollment Office)

Students who are currently in 8th grade or below need specific items to be completed in order to register for Dual Enrollment courses, in addition to the regular Dual Enrollment registration process. The steps are outlined below:

1. Apply to Moorpark College

2. Setup your my.vcccd.edu portal

3. Complete the Dual Enrollment e-FORM

4. Obtain a letter from your middle school Principal answering the questions: How is this student prepared to take this course(s), and how will this student benefit from taking this college course(s) now?

5. Obtain a school transcript or report cards showing the past 2 years of academic grades.

6. Email mcdualenrollment@vcccd.edu requesting an appointment with the Director of Dual Enrollment (student and parent/guardian must be present) attaching the Principal's letter and transcript or report cards.

7. Attend a meeting with the Director of Dual Enrollment. If approved, the Director will clear the student's hold.

8. Register for course(s) and pay any fees.

DE Recommendation Required

This hold means that you do not currently have permission to take a course, and it can be cleared by the student, counselor, and parent completing the Dual Enrollment E-form (also called MOU) Once this form has been completed, you should receive an email from Admissions and Records informing you that you were cleared for the course.

Dual Enrollment E-Form

If you have already completed the form, and it has been more than 2 business days since you, your counselor, and your parent submitted it, but you still have the hold, make sure that the class you are trying to enroll in is the same as the one you listed on the MOU. It is also possible that part of the form was improperly filled out, and so was not processed. To learn more about the progress of your MOU, you can contact the admissions and records department. Their email is mcadmissions@vcccd.edu and their phone number is (805) 378-1429.

See the next two slides for more info on why your Dual Enrollment form may have been denied!

Common Enrollment Problems

Too many credits - Dual enrollment students are only able to enroll in 11 units per semester. Our system won’t allow a student to enroll in any more courses once they reach 11 units.

Duplicate course - Our system won’t allow a student to sign up for duplicates of a course.

Corequisite - You must also register in (Course) (CRN). Enroll in both courses at the same time.

Time Conflict - This class conflicts with (CRN). You may not register for both classes. Enrolling in classes that overlap will not work. Use class search to select another CRN of the same course that meets at different days/times.

Term not appearing in registration planner - Your account may have been paused due to inactivity, reapply to Moorpark College to fix this.

Never received a welcome email - Contact Admissions and Records to resend the email. Their email is mcadmissions@vcccd.edu and their phone number is (805) 378-1429.

Account Charges preventing enrollment - Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information, their phone number is (805) 378-1462, their text line is (877) 822-0435, and their email is mcfa@vcccd.edu

Troubleshooting

• Clear your history or cache in your browser, or try a different browser – Chrome & Firefox are

recommended. Edge, Internet Explorer, & Safari can cause errors.

• Reboot your computer.

• Did you forward emails to a Gmail account? If you have forwarded your @my.VCCCD email account to

an outside Gmail account it can cause your auto-populated forms to have an error such as a non

MyVCCCD email. Update those settings via the MyVCCCD student portal and remove forwarding

settings.

• Did you recently apply? If you have applied or re-established your account in the past 24 hours, it may take

time for your account to come active, the processing takes anywhere from 24-48 hours and early attempts

can cause errors, such as populating a personal email in the form. Try attempting a little later to see if your

Moorpark College student email populates in the form, after 48 hours, if the form does not automatically add

your MyVCCCD email reach out to admissions and records at (805) 378-1429.
