Today I want to teach you that nonfiction readers not only identify the main idea (what the part/page or chunk is mostly about), we also identify the details that go with it.

We do this by:�1. Reading the page, section, part or chunk and asking ourselves, “What is this part mostly about?”

2. Use our fingers to collect the details that go with it.

3. Then we record this information on a sheet or in our reading notebook.
