About Us
5
Our Focus
In Malaysia, out of 25,499 refugees under the age of 18, 70% do not receive proper education as there are no legal frameworks in place to address their situation.
Due to their refugee status, these children cannot attend schools thus are forced to make do with whatever limited resources they have. Most attend schools which are sponsored by non-governmental organizations and even then, there are simply not enough available resources to provide all the children with their most basic needs.

Learning Partner
Living Waters Learning Centre
Volunteer Coordinator,
Summer 2023
Living Waters Learning Centre has been partnering with AIESEC in Taylor’s University for many years and in every project, I was fortunate to work alongside many remarkable young adults. This project is no exception. It was run extremely well and the sense of camaraderie was higher than before. I applaud every single individual who committed their time and effort into making this project a successful one. Our students and I feel very lucky to have met so many amazing AIESECers. I do hope that AIESECers who worked with our young refugee students will be leaving with a positive mindset on our refugee communities and their plights. We wish all of you a successful and fulfilling journey ahead.

Testimonials
Janice Gracia M
Light A Refugee’s Dream Volunteer, Winter 2022
By joining this project, I could give small participation to society by teaching the refugees children and raising awareness regarding this issue through content creation that we posted online.I think what I gained after this volunteering is how I can step out of my comfort zone. Actually, public speaking is something that I avoid, but through this project, I have to do that, and it turns out I can improve my skill with time. One of the most memorable times is the first time I have to do a live teaching session and interact directly with the students.During this project, I feel that it is challenging yet enjoyable to have such a new experience.

Light A Refugee’s Dream Volunteer, Winter 2022
I learn how to communicate information with others more effectively. Besides, I also learned how to create and design posters using Canva. And, I learn how to deal with the situation, either good or bad, when the teaching session. Many interesting and memorable experiences happened when the teaching session. For example, when I was playing Kahoot with the children, when the children were drawing posters about avoiding bullying, and every time the children express their thanks for our teaching.I feel enjoyed and satisfied to volunteer in the program. I have learned many soft and hard skills, as well as gained different experiences throughout the program.
