    • Library hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each school day. Students are welcome to use the library and check out library books within these hours.

    • During class periods, students must bring an official Library Pass from their teacher. Regular hall passes cannot be accepted as permission to use the library.

    • Teachers reserving the library for their class period have priority and will decide if other students may come in during their reserved time periods.
    • At times, the library may be closed after school due to scheduled meetings or other school-affiliated events.

Our library has a network of 24 computers.

Student Chromebook Login Information Is Used to Login to Library Computers.

All student computers connect to the color printer in the library for printing school work.

Student ID is required for printing access.

    • DO finish or store all food and drinks before you enter the library. Reusable bottles with tops and water bottles with tops are the only beverage containers allowed out in the library. Please report a spill immediately.
    • DO find a chair. If there are no seats left, the library is full. Library capacity is limited to seat capacity. Avoid hovering around full tables.
    • DO feel free to use any of the desktop computers to work on homework and research.
    • DO pick up any trash you see, even if it isn’t yours. The library is a special place where students should feel free to work, relax, or collaborate. Keep it clean and calming.
    • DO leave everything the way it was when you arrived. Push in your chairs, straighten up your space, and return any textbooks to the circulation desk or textbook shelf. Stop by the check-out desk to check out any books you want to take with you.
    • DO silence all devices and use headphones to listen to any audio.
    • DO limit your phone use to school work and quiet activity. Actual calls should be made outside the library. If sharing videos for a class project, headphones must be used.
    • DO behave with respect to others, the library materials and furnishings, and library staff.

How to Access Destiny Discover Using the BUSD Destiny Discover Link

    • Navigate to the BUSD Destiny Discover Link (Burbankusd.follettdestiny.com)
    • Click on John Burroughs High School under the High School List
    • Click on the waffle at the top right. Then Destiny Discover.
    • Click on Login and Enter Your Login Credentials.

How to Access Destiny Discover Using Clever

    • Student Chromebooks have an app portal called “Clever.”

    • Clever is accessed via clicking the Chrome icon on the task bar and navigating to the Clever logo.

    • The BUSD Clever application will display an icon for Follett/Destiny. Click on the Icon for Follett Destiny Discover.

    • The student should automatically be logged in to Destiny Discover but if not, the student will enter student login credentials to login.

    • Students must present their current school ID card when checking out library books.

    • Students may have a maximum of three books checked out at any given time.

    • Fiction and non-fiction books loan for a three-week period. Graphic novels and manga loan for a one-week period.

    • All site/district library materials must be renewed/returned before checking out new materials. If a book is lost, a replacement copy or replacement cost must be submitted in order to clear. Overdue library books may cause delays in students’ participation in school-related extracurricular activities, such as dances and senior activities.

    • Novels being read as a class are checked out through the Textbook Room. Textbook Room is open only before school, during nutrition and lunch.

    • Students are responsible for the care and preservation of all instructional materials checked out to them.

    • Handle books with clean, dry hands.
    • Use a bookmark—never fold or mark pages.
    • Keep food and drinks away from library materials.
    • Avoid using sticky notes, paper clips, or highlighters.
    • Report any damage to the library staff immediately.
    • Respect the due date—return books on time.

Lost or Damaged Book Policy

Students are responsible for the care of all library materials they borrow. If a book is returned damaged beyond repair or is lost, a damage or replacement fee will be charged to cover the cost of the book. Please speak with the Library Coordinator if you have any concerns or need assistance with a lost item.
