What did we do wrong?

Measure the footprint

  • EPA Protocol at first, then adapted the GHG Protocol
  • Scope 1, 2 and 3
  • Data sets that were used: Ecoinvent, scientific articles, MoEP
  • Collecting data based on questionnaires, getting to the source. Avoiding assumptions as much as possible

  • Durability
  • Verified Carbon credits (or in process of verification)
  • Potential to scale

19 of 27

Portfolio of removals

80% of the footprint – current removals

  • Natural-based project: Wetland restoration by SPNI and TERRRA

20% of the footprint - future removals

  • Direct air capture by Repair
  • Natural-based Blue carbon by MPI
  • Capture and storage by Airovation

Impact

  • Biodiversity (80 tips of birds a day, including three that are in danger of extinction, Jungle cats, and amphibian animal)
  • Supporting the bird migration of the world’s most extensive fly route
  • Fair trade
  • Educating for sustainability
  • Well-being
  • Partnership

23 of 27

Durability

  • Low risk to burn down
  • High immediate sequestration
  • Soil carbon: 1,000 years and more

24 of 27

Verified Carbon credits

  • Taking part in the voluntary carbon market
  • Measurements based on Verra modules
  • Project verification through a Verra methodology
  • In the process of validation and verification by Verra. Estimated to complete b/o Q4, 2022.

25 of 27

Potential to scale up

  • Buying offsets from companies with scale-up visions

26 of 27

Conclusions

  • Strength of measuring
  • Emission reduction
  • High-quality removals
  • Long-lasting storage
  • Support the development of net-zero aligned offsetting
