An effective club coaching structure is the arrangement of competent and knowledgeable club personnel in such a way that quality coaching can be delivered to develop and progress players.

The structure should be sustainable and involve a coaching committee, coaching officer and coaches working towards an agreed long term coaching plan, whilst delivering set targets and objectives at each level.

2. Cooperate/Collaborate

  • With Parents/Guardians/Coaches to foster and support a positive coaching and playing environment

in the club through the promotion and delivery of GAA Programmes aligned to the Player Pathway

  • With the Club Children’s Officer to ensure all coaches comply with Child Safeguarding and Vetting requirements
  • With Meath Coaching & Games and the Participation Officers (POs)
  • With Club Football Pathway Manager to assist with Club Pathway Planning, Team SWOT Analysis and Policies review
  • With Club Hurling Pathway Manager on the delivery of the New Child Pathway.
  • With LGFA and Camogie to promote the One Club Model

The Club Coaching Officer should be a member of the Club Executive appointed at the annual AGM

Club Coaching Officer- Role

  • To support the retention of underage club players that will continue to play for the club and ultimately play adult club competition
  • Put in place annualised age specific coaching plans for each team with a specific curriculum of learning outcomes
  • Execute, adhere to and modify the plan as necessary in line with the ethos of the club
  • Advise on the recruitment process for underage coaches in the club
  • Advise and mentor underage coaches
  • Advise on adult management teams and ethos, especially adult development and participation teams (2nd & 3rd Teams)
  • Liaise with the Meath GAA  Academy Head Coach on the long-term development of county academy players/coaches or potential county academy players/coaches
  • Annualised age specific athletic development plans for each team.
  • Support club coaching education initiatives as appropriate
  • Cooperate and collaborate with Meath C&G and the Games Development Administrators (GDCs)
