What is Sumō? すもうってなに?

Sumo (相撲, sumō) is the national sport of Japan. It is traditional Japanese wrestling. In ancient times, sumō originated as a performance to predict the year’s harvest. Legends and myths say that sumo was practiced by the gods, before handed down to the people. Today, the accomplishments of non-Japanese sumō wrestlers are attracting attention.
