2. Click on the tab for “Grades.” It is on the left hand side.
3. You will see “Grades at a Glance” for all of your classes.
3. Notice that every class period is listed along with the current percentage and letter grade.
3. Your year-long classes will show the grade under quarter 2. Quarter-long classes will show under quarter 1.
Year-long class!!!
Quarter-long class!!!
But, wait!!!
Looking at your “grades at a glance” is NOT enough when you check grades.
Remember, this shows only your OVERALL grades across ALL your teachers and classes.
Maybe Mr. Hamilton posted a lot of assignments last night. How do you know which assignments are missing? Or, how do you know which area you could improve upon in class?
If you don’t dig deeper into your grades,
you could miss IMPORTANT information.
Click on “Schedule” on the toolbar. It is on the left side.
You will see your schedule for the quarter.
Notice there is an assignment button (looks like paper) AND a button to email your teacher (looks like an envelope).
Find your Language Arts class.
Click on the icon for your assignments for Language Arts (looks like paper).
Here is where you will see your assignments, grades, late or missing work.
Your assignments are listed in different categories.
Categories for Mr. Hamilton’s Class
Language Arts | Social Studies |

The “Name” shows the assignment name.
The “Due Date” shows when the assignment was due to Mr. Hamilton.
The “Assigned Date” shows when the teacher assigned the task.
The “Pts Poss” stands for ‘Points Possible.’ This is the total amount of points you COULD have earned on this assignment.
The “Score” tells you what YOU EARNED on the assignment. For example, the student earned 17 points out of a possible 20 on the Letter of Introduction.
The “%” tells you the percentage of possible points you earned. By earning 17 of 20 points, the student received 85% on the assignment.
SWEET!!!
Is that everything??
NOOOOooooo!!!
If “Late” or “Missing” appears in RED, you need to look at it!
Late - You have turned it in, and it was graded. However, you did not turn it in on time. :(
Missing - This assignment is NOT recorded in the gradebook and has not been turned in to Mr. Hamilton or submitted correctly on Google Classroom. It is YOUR responsibility to come see me to turn in this assignment.
Remember how we said the “Score” is what you earned on the assignment?
This student earned 60 points on one assignment and 100 points on the second.
Remember seeing “Missing” in red? The third assignment has not been turned in to Mr. Hamilton. You will see a “M” for your score as it is “Missing.”
Remember, the “Percent” is what percentage of total points you earned.
This student earned 0% on the third assignment.
Why? Remember seeing “Missing” in red? There is nothing to grade, so you cannot earn points.
A WORD OF CAUTION….
Teachers do not LOSE your assignments. :) If it is listed as missing, it most likely has NOT been turned in to the teacher or submitted correctly on Google Classroom.
It’s your responsibility to solve this problem with Mr. Hamilton.
When Mr. Hamilton says, “Please check your grades,” he means to dig DEEP into your grades and look IN each class...don’t just skim the “Grades at a Glance” section!
Please come ask questions if you need help! I will help you.
This is your year! Set yourself up for SUCCESS!
