this game has a lot of upsetting and possibly triggering themes and contents related to topics of mental health, bullying, horror imagery and more. im not going to talk about this in too much detail but please take caution if this is something your health could be negatively affected by.
personally, i think most of the heavy stuff is portrayed pretty respectfully.

reasons to play
-the whole games aesthetic is gorgeous and each game gets better and better!
-canon LGBT characters (for example, an important character canonically identifies as genderfluid.. and theres more!)
-characters you will most likely be able to relate to, at least on some level

unfortunately, its very hard to describe this game without any spoilers. lets move onto the characters!

(im using the earliest sprites for all the characters… meaning, they only get better!)

there are five games in the series, out of which 3 make up the main storyline - typically referred to with a respective number.
hc1 is free (the next slide has a download link), hc2 and hc3 are not but theyre very cheap (and theyre the only game ive ever paid for). if you cant pay, theres always manlybadassheros lets play, which i watched as well and enjoyed greatly!
besides that, there is delirium, a spin-off puzzle game, and heavens gate, a visual novel featuring a certain cast of characters that have too many spoilers around them to elaborate on! both of these are free.
