Lesson 2: Indoor Signs

  • Lesson 2 focuses on signs. Participants need to recognize indoor signs, outdoor signs, and traffic signs.

​

  • Some participants may have a good understanding of this material already, so you can go through this lesson quickly. However, if you are working with a person that has little to no experience with this information, please take your time in going through these slides. 

​

  • Use slide 3 to review indoor signs.

  • After reviewing indoor signs, move on to outdoor and traffic signs.

  • Use slide 5 to help participants recognize the various outdoor and traffic signs they will encounter.

  • Once the participant can identify the various outdoor/traffic signs, it is important that they also know what those signs mean.

  • Use slide 7 to teach and/or review the meanings of the various outdoor/traffic signs with participants.

  • Use slide 8 for more practice. The websites listed are games that allow participants to practice and review identifying and understanding outdoor and traffic signs.

  • If you feel the participant already has a good understanding of this information, you can skip this slide.

Lesson 2: Traffic Signs

  • The last part of Lesson 2 allows you to really assess if participants can identify and understand outdoor and traffic signs.

​

  • Use slide 9 to explain to the participant that the last activity involves a scavenger hunt outside. You may have to explain the meaning of a scavenger hunt.

​

  • Review the provided worksheet, and then take the participant outside and explore. This is an active way to review and practice all the information from Lesson 2.
