Many times administration do not know what a librarian's job entails.

  • Make time to sit down and talk to your admin team.
  • Bring information to give to them.
  • Explain what a librarian can do for the school community.
  • Ask them their expectations for the library.
  • Make them feel included.

Quote

Librarians have the ability to be an important go-between for teachers and administrators. If there is a

positive relationship between the librarian, faculty/staff, and administration the school climate is positively affected and students are more successful.

Be Positive

  • We will say this one more time, BE POSITIVE!
  • Do not think that your administors do not like you.
  • Do not think they do not care about the library.
  • You need to show them all the great things that a library and librarian do do for them.
  • They have a lot on their plate
  • Be a problem solver!

Communication is key to a positive relationship with your district administration. Keep them in the loop about upcoming projects,

activities happening in your library, library needs, and if a problem arises let them know so they aren't caught off guard by a community member or parent.
