What types of ice are found in the natural environment on Earth?

Land Ice/Sea Ice/Grounded Ice

Place a foam block in 1/2 of your container—this is your “land”
Make a sign labeling which container you have: land-based ice, floating ice, or grounded ice
Pour water into your container—this is your “ocean”—leave some land above water if you have land-based or floating ice—grounded ice will not have “land”
If you are assigned “land-based ice”—add ice on top of your foam block—add as much ice as you can, but be sure that all of the ice is on the rocks and not in the water
If you have been assigned “floating ice”—add ice to the water—add as much as you can without it touching the bottom of the container—it needs to all be floating
If you are assigned “grounded ice” –add the ice block to your container—be sure it is sitting on the bottom and not floating—adjust water level as needed
AFTER adding the ice—use the vis-a-vis marker to draw a line marking sea level
