School Level DLMI

  • All Schools in the PSU should complete the DLMI School level inventory.
  • School Principals should verify the completion and accuracy of all School data before signing off.
  • PSU DLMI Administrator should verify completion and accuracy of each School DLMI in their PSU before signing off.
  • PSUs with only one School (such as charters) must complete BOTH the School and PSU inventories.
  • IMPORTANT: Please be sure to carefully review all data from the previous year and edit it as needed. We utilize this data to advocate for your needs and depend on accuracy to be able to properly represent the needs in the field.
  • Note - the School Level DLMI does not contain the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Focus Area or the DLPR. All the items related to these areas are on the PSU Level.

Click Uploads at the top to see the options and begin.

  • School Network (School Level Questions 503-506)
  • Digital Learning Dashboard (DLD) (School Level Questions 601-608)
    • Uploading DLD data is not needed if your PSU utilized the the Student Information System PowerSchool Parent Portal.
    • SIS Data will be imported weekly, but needs to be verified & saved in the School DLMI.
    • School DLMI administrators may also manually input or upload Digital Learning Dashboard data for their individual school.

10 of 58

School: Human Capacity

This item should include all teachers in your building who teach classes including electives/specials, EC, and any others who teach classes a majority of the day.

However, because ITFs and Media Coordinators are counted separately in questions 202 and 204, do not count them in this question, #201.

Use numbers only, up to 2 decimal points.

For shared staff, you have 2 options:

  • 1 - You may use up to 2 decimal points to account for partial positions such as a teacher who works at multiple schools (a teacher who serves 2 schools equally could be counted 0.5 at each school).
  • OR 2 - you may only count teachers at their home school.

Either method is fine, but it is important that the whole PSU/district counts them the same way so that staff are not over or under counted.

10

201. How many full time equivalent (FTE) classroom teachers does your school have?

go.ncdpi.gov/23-24DLMIslidesPSU

11 of 58

School: Human Capacity

Enter a name, position title, email, and FTE (Full Time Equivalent) percentage for each position being reported in questions 202, 204, 206, & 207. To enter this information, select 'Edit Names’. A dialog box will appear.

  • Click the cells in the table to enter the required information for each staff member.
  • If additional rows are needed, select ‘Add Row’.
  • Once information has been added/changed, select ‘Save Changes’.

If there is not a person in your school that fills a listed role, select ‘Set Zero’.

  • Please include ONLY School Level staff in these items. All PSU-based staff will be reported on the PSU Level DLMI.
  • For each person, please provide name, title, email, and FTE (Full Time Equivalent) allotted percentage.
  • If a person fills multiple roles, their total FTE cannot be greater than 1.0.
  • When adding information to the ‘FTE’ cells for staff, select the percentage for that individual that most closely aligns with their role and duties (Full Time, Three quarter time, Half time, Quarter time, or No position).
  • If a position is vacant, please be sure to reflect that in your answers by using Vacant for the name and vacant@(your PSU’s staff domain).

1 person may serve multiple roles, but 1 person CANNOT be assigned more than 1.0 total FTE!

  • Example - If one person serves as both the SLMC and the ITF, the FTE for each position should have the same person's name and email address but the FTE would be split for each position to add up to no more than 1.0 (for example 0.75 and 0.25, or 0.5 and 0.5).

  • Report ONLY devices issued to this school.
  • DO NOT INCLUDE devices reserved at the PSU level that are not issued to this individual school as these will be reported on the PSU Level DLMI. Devices should only be counted once, either at the School Level or the PSU Level, not both.
  • IMPORTANT - Report usable or repairable devices only.
  • Do NOT report outdated, unusable devices such as those that will no longer update or are being used only for parts.

520. Approximately what percentage of students in your school DO have internet access at home?

46

go.ncdpi.gov/23-24DLMIslidesPSU

This percentage should represent students who DO have home internet that is at least adequate to complete school work most of the time.

  • The intent here is to have a best estimate of how many students have access on a regular basis to adequate internet to complete school work at home.
  • If a student relies on a hotspot but routinely runs out of data before the end of the month, then they do NOT have access to reliable, consistent high speed internet at home.
  • If the student only has access through a school-provided hotspot, please do NOT include them. This count should represent students who have broadband without the school providing it.

We know this is a difficult thing to determine, but we encourage systems to do their best in determining this so that we can continue advocating for every student in North Carolina to have adequate internet access for learning.

Digital Learning Dashboard

47

go.ncdpi.gov/23-24DLMIslidesPSU

Items 601-608 refer to data collected in the parent survey PowerSchool Parent Portal. This data was collected to fulfill session law § 115C-102.9 calling for the collection and reporting of data regarding all students access to digital devices and internet access at home. If schools used this survey, the data will import automatically and schools do not have to complete this section.

If your PSU DID utilize the Parent Survey in PowerSchool to collect this data, the data entered into PowerSchool by families or PowerSchool Administrators for students should import automatically, and you do NOT need to complete items 601-608.

  • This imported data appears in the top rows of each item.
  • The import from SIS will be refreshed weekly through June 29 as new data is entered.
  • These imported data rows are not editable, but please verify the data.
  • If you have more accurate data than what was collected in the Parent Portal, you may enter or upload that data in the bottom rows.
  • The larger number for each data point will be used.

If your PSU DID NOT utilize the Parent Survey in PowerSchool to collect this data, you WILL need to complete items 601-608.

  • You may enter the data manually below OR upload it utilizing the import template below.
  • Manual Entry: Enter your aggregated grade level data in the bottom rows of each item.
  • Use numbers only (to represent the number of students in the grade who selected each choice)
  • For manual entry, it is recommended to utilize this DLD Import DLMI 2022-2023 template to help organize your data prior to completing this section.
  • You may also choose to download the spreadsheet as a CSV and upload it following the directions on the ‘Upload’ tab rather than manually entering the numbers into the chart below.
