  • However when they try to move the Ark the Lord smites them down, so they leave the Ark at Obed-Edom’s house for three months.

CHAPTER 14: DAVID DEFEATS PHILISTINES

  • King of Tyre sends supplies and laborers to David to help build a palace.
  • When the Philistines hear about David becoming King they attack Israel, but David defeats them.

CHAPTER 15: THE ARK IS BROUGHT TO JERUSALEM

  • David builds a place for the Ark in Jerusalem.
  • He instructs the Israelites that no one but the Levites may carry the Ark.
  • Then they go to retrieve the Ark.

  • The ark is set up in the tent that David created for it.

  • The Lord tell the prophet Nathan to tell David not to build him a temple, for his Son will be the one to build him a temple.

CHAPTER 19: THE WAR AGAINST THE AMMONITES

  • After Nahash king of the Ammonites dies, David sends ambassadors to show his sympathy.
  • However upon arrival they suspect the ambassadors of spying, and assault them.
  • After the Ambassadors return to David, the Ammonites realize they have made an enemy, so they hire the Arameans to fight against the Israelites.
  • David sends Joab to lead the Israelites in battle. The Israelites defeat the Arameans which cause the Ammonites to retreat. The Arameans then surrender and break their allegiance with the Amonnites.

CHAPTER 20: AMMONITES AND PHILISTINES DEFEATED

  • Joab defeats the Ammonites and capture their land. David plunders the city and turns the population to forced laborers.
  • The Israelites then defeat the Philistines.

CHAPTER 21: DAVID’S CENSUS

  • David order Joab to take a census of all the men who are able to fight in Israel.
  • The Lord see this as a sin, and decides to punish David.
  • The Lord sends a plague to be inflicted upon on Israel.
  • David pleads with the Lord to lift the plague because it was only he that guilty.
  • The Lord orders David to make a sacrifice.

CHAPTER 22: THE TEMPLE

  • David decides to build a temple for the Lord
  • The Lord intervenes and tells David that his son Solomon will build the temple, for he has shed to much blood.
  • David orders the elders to help his Son Solomon, and donates a large sum of money.

  • David makes Solomon King and assigns jobs to the levites.
