The following are the concepts on 5 R’s:

1. To reduce simply means to lessen the amount of waste in the environment e.g. buy rechargeable batteries instead of disposable, buy products in bigger packs than those in sachet.

2. To reuse means to use again or find other ways to use a material e.g. use eco bag when shopping, use reusable containers, sell empty bottles, reuse water bottles as liquid containers, donate clothes during relief operations, conduct a garage sale.

3. Recycle means to create a new product using a material that has serve its purpose, e.g. stained glass bottles can be recycled to form new product like bottle chimes or paper weights.

4. Recover energy from certain materials, plastic –to- oil technology is one way of generating energy from plastic waste, the function of MRF is of great help in recovering energy.

5. To repair means to fix slightly broken things to make them useful again e. g. furniture, appliances and clothes.
