God works through each of us to fulfill His purposes
SCRIPTURE
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3-4 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink. And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
- Exodus 2:2-6
God works through each of us to fulfill His purposes
Ronald A. Rasband
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Our lives are like a chessboard, and the Lord moves us from one place to another—if we are responsive to spiritual promptings. Looking back, we can see His hand in our lives…Through the experience of my own life’s journey, I know that the Lord will move us on that seeming chessboard to do His work. What may appear to be a random chance is, in fact, overseen by a loving Father in Heaven…
When our Father in Heaven said, “This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man,” He was talking about all of His children—you in particular. The Lord’s hand is guiding you. By “divine design,” He is in the small details of your life as well as the major milestones. As it says in Proverbs, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; … and he shall direct thy paths.”

“Give,” Said the Little Stream(Children’s Songbook #236)
MUSIC
1. “Give,” said the little stream,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little stream,
As it hurried down the hill;
“I’m small, I know, but wherever I go The fields grow greener still.”
2. “Give,” said the little rain,
“Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.”
“Give,” said the little rain,
As it fell upon the flow’rs;
“I’ll raise their drooping heads again,”
As it fell upon the flow’rs.

3. Give, then, as Jesus gives,
Give, oh! give, give, oh! give.
Give, then, as Jesus gives;
There is something all can give.
Do as the streams and blossoms do:
For God and others live.
Chorus:
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give away, oh! give away.”
Singing, singing all the day,
“Give, oh! give away.”
God works through each of us to fulfill His purposes

We should show reverence for holy things and places
We should show reverence for holy things and places
SCRIPTURE
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
- Exodus 3:1-5
We should show reverence for holy things and places
L. Lionel Kendrick
Of the Seventy
Reverence is an expression of deep respect, honor, and adoration for the Lord. It is having reverence for His name, for His words, for His ordinances and covenants, for His servants, for His chapels, and for His temples. It is an outward indication of an inner feeling that we have for Him. We should always remember that it is by His invitation that we come to His holy house, the temple of the Lord.
…To be reverent is not just to be quiet. It involves an awareness of what is taking place. It involves a divine desire to learn and to be receptive to the promptings of the Spirit. It involves a striving to seek added light and knowledge. Irreverence is not only an act of disrespect for Deity, but it makes it impossible for the Spirit to teach us the things that we need to know.
- Elder L. Lionel Kendrick, “Enhancing Our Temple Experience,”General Conference, April 2001
Reverence is Love(Children's Songbook #31)
MUSIC
Rev’rence is more than just quietly sitting:
It’s thinking of Father above,
A feeling I get when I think of his blessings.
I’m rev’rent, for rev’rence is love.
When I’m rev’rent, it shows in my words and my deeds.
The pathway to follow is clear.
And when I am rev’rent, I know in my heart
Heav’nly Father and Jesus are near.

Who Am I, and Who Does God Want Me to Become?
Who Am I, and Who Does God Want Me to Become?
SCRIPTURE
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. […]
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
- Exodus 3:6,10-11,13-14
Who Am I, and Who Does God Want Me to Become?
Carlos A. Godoy
Presidency of the Seventy
Understanding who we are, why we are here, and what the Lord expects from us in this life will help give us the broader vision we need. We can find examples in the scriptures in which having a broader vision gave clarity regarding which path to take.
Moses spoke with the Lord face-to-face, learned about the plan of salvation, and thereby better understood his role as the prophet of the gathering of Israel…With this understanding, Moses was able to endure many years of tribulation in the desert and lead Israel back to its home…
We are children of Almighty God. He is our Father, He loves us, and He has a plan for us... He knows us.
- Elder Carlos A. Godoy, “The Lord Has a Plan for Us!,”General Conference, October 2014
I Am a Child of God(Children’s Songbook #2)
MUSIC
1. I am a child of God,
And he has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home
With parents kind and dear.
2. I am a child of God,
And so my needs are great;
Help me to understand his words
Before it grows too late.
3. I am a child of God.
Rich blessings are in store;
If I but learn to do his will,
I’ll live with him once more.
4. I am a child of God.
His promises are sure;
Celestial glory shall be mine
If I can but endure.

Who Am I, and Who Does God Want Me to Become?
As we do the Lord’s work, we can have the Lord’s power
As we do the Lord’s work, we can have the Lord’s power
SCRIPTURE
1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
- Exodus 4:1,10-12
As we do the Lord’s work, we can have the Lord’s power
Carl B. Cook
Presidency of the Seventy
[W]e will be blessed as we serve. But when we recognize God’s hand in our calling and serve with all our hearts, additional power comes into our service, and we become true servants of Jesus Christ.
Brothers and sisters, accepting and fulfilling a calling is an act of faith. We can trust in what our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, repeatedly teaches: “Whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies” and “When we are on the Lord’s errand, we are entitled to the Lord’s help.” Whether we are overwhelmed or underwhelmed, whether we are scared to death or bored to death, the Lord wants us to gear down, power up, and serve.
…Through Jesus Christ and the power we receive through His Atonement, we can also serve. He will help us.
- Elder Carl B. Cook, “Serve,”General Conference, October 2016
I Will Walk with Jesus(Primary 2020 Theme Song)
MUSIC
1. Jesus walked in wisdom; Jesus grew in truth.
He showed love to God and man while in His youth.
Jesus wants to guide me. Jesus shows the way,
Calling me to come and walk with Him each day.
2. I can grow like Jesus. I will try each day,
Promising to walk His path and there to stay.
Standing by my Savior, safe within His care,
Step by step I’ll follow, and His love I’ll share.
3. I will trust in Jesus. I will hear His call.
He will never leave me, even when I fall.
Jesus gives me power, lifts and comforts me,
Helping me to live and grow eternally.
Words: Mary M. Dodge, about 1831–1905
Music: W. K. Bassford, 1839–1902

Chorus:
As I walk with Jesus to my home above,
He will bless me with His Spirit and fill me with His love,
Change my heart forever and help me clearly see.
I will walk with Jesus, and He will walk with me.
As we do the Lord’s work, we can have the Lord’s power
The Lord’s purposes will be fulfilled in His own time
The Lord’s purposes will be fulfilled in His own time
SCRIPTURE
6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7-8 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
22-23 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.
- Exodus 5:6-9,20-23
The Lord’s purposes will be fulfilled in His own time
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Heavenly Father ha[s] a purpose in requiring that His children wait. Every one of us is called to wait in our own way. We wait for answers to prayers. We wait for things which at the time may appear so right and so good to us that we can’t possibly imagine why Heavenly Father would delay the answer…God’s promises are not always fulfilled as quickly as or in the way we might hope; they come according to His timing and in His ways…I know for sure that the promises of the Lord, if perhaps not always swift, are always certain…
Often the deep valleys of our present will be understood only by looking back on them from the mountains of our future experience… Often the most difficult times of our lives are essential building blocks that form the foundation of our character and pave the way to future opportunity, understanding, and happiness.

Keep the Commandments(Children’s Songbook #146)
MUSIC
1. Keep the commandments; keep the commandments!
In this there is safety; in this there is peace.
He will send blessings;
He will send blessings.
Words of a prophet:
Keep the commandments.
In this there is safety and peace.
2. We are His children; we are His children,
and we must be tested to show we are true.
Hold to His promises;
Hold to His promises,
Heeding the prophets:
Keep the commandments.
In this there is safety and peace.

Jesus Christ is our Deliverer
Jesus Christ is our Deliverer
SCRIPTURE
2-3 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
- Exodus 6:2-3, 6-7
Jesus Christ is our Deliverer
LeGrand R. Curtis Jr.
Of the Seventy
A prominent scriptural use of the word redeem concerns the delivery of the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt…
The theme of Jehovah redeeming the people of Israel from bondage is repeated many times in the scriptures. Often this is done to remind the people of the Lord’s goodness in delivering the children of Israel from the Egyptians. But it is also done to teach them that there would be another, more important, redemption for Israel. Lehi taught, “And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall”…President John Taylor taught that because of the Redeemer’s sacrifice, “the debt is paid, the redemption made, the covenant fulfilled, justice satisfied, the will of God done, and all power is … given into the hands of the Son of God”.
- Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr., “Redemption,”General Conference, October 2011
The Miracle(by Shawna Edwards)
MUSIC
For God so loved the world
That He gave His only Begotten Son
That whosoever believeth in him shall not perish
But have everlasting life
Jesus walked upon the water
He stilled the storm and calmed the angry sea
With His hands He healed the leper
He made the lame to walk, the blind to see
He fed a thousand people with a loaf or two of bread
And when the ruler's daughter died
He raised her from the dead
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this
Of all His miracles, the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
Jesus bled and died to save me
A price that I could never pay alone
When He rose again, He gave me
The greatest gift the world has ever known
Yes, I can be forgiven every time that I repent
And someday He will lift me up to live with Him again
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this:
Of all His miracles the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
The miracle that rescues you and me
