Highline String Quartet is a project born out of the Highline Chamber

Ensemble, a collective of musicians based out of Manhattan. Founded in

2013, Highline aims to shatter the stuffy perception of classical music by

emphasizing the audience experience.

With an alias inspired by Chelsea’s High Line Park in New York City, Highline String Quartet represents the merging of cultural preservation with contemporary society. Highline Quartet has become woven into the fabric of New York nightlife as the continuous performers of Candlelight Concerts presented by Fever and SecretNYC in New York City. Over the past decade, Highline Quartet has curated hundreds of concerts and delighted tens of thousands of guests across the 5 boroughs and beyond.

Bela Horvath | Violin

Hungarian born violinist, Bela Horvath has earned international acclaim having performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York. Bela won the National Janos Koncz violin competition in Hungary and was the youngest prize winner in the 9th International Carl Flesch Violin Competition. Bela has earned his Bachelor and Master Degree in Music performance from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Grammy Award winning violinist, Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec, and is currently on the faculty at Manhattan School of Music’s Pre-College division.

Jeffrey Wang | Violin

Jeffrey Wang, Violin, a native New Yorker, is co-founder and artistic director of the Highline Chamber Ensemble and a violinist for the Highline String Quartet. Through his activities with Highline and other projects, Jeffrey engages in over 150 performances a year. Jeffrey can be seen weekly at Candlelight Concerts by Fever in different venues across New York City. He has also proudly curated numerous programs that have been seen worldwide through Candlelight Concerts Global.

Through his various musical activities in chamber music, orchestral-playing, and as music advocate and educator, Jeffrey has shared stages all over the world with the likes of Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Janelle Monet, and late local legends Lou Reed, and Ben E. King. But no artists inspire him as much as those within and around the Highline String Quartet, to whom Jeffrey will be ever grateful and indebted.

Laura Sacks | Viola

Laura Sacks is a New York City based freelance violist. Ms. Sacks enjoys a multifaceted career spanning many genres- from classical to jazz to pop music. Ms. Sacks has performed in many prominent venues throughout New York City such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Town Hall, and the Beacon Theater. Laura has attended the Aspen Summer Music Festival where she performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra alongside world famous soloists and conductors. Performance highlights include playing alongside Glenn Dicterow at Carnegie Hall, playing with The Eagles at the Beacon theater, and performing in a solo Glen Fry concert at NYC’s Town Hall. Ms. Sacks can be heard on the soundtrack of the Sundance film, Indignation. TV performances include NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” and Saturday Night Live. Ms. Sacks is presently a violist/violinist member in the house band on NBC’s “Maya and Mary.”

Hirona Amamiya | Violin

Hirona Amamiya is a Soprano/Violinist based in New York. She embraces a wide range of repertoire from baroque music to contemporary music. Recent performances as a soprano include Cleoppatra (Giulio Cesare), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Sandman (Hansel and Gretel). Amamiya has performed solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and opera performances in numerous countries include Japan, Korea, Germany, Austria, Italy, Israel, and the US. Her extensive appearances in New York include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, The Morgan Library & Museum, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Symphony Space, and St. Peter's Church.

Amamiya was born in Tokyo into a musical family. She began playing the piano under her mother's tutorage when she was three years old, and began playing the violin at the age of five. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Violin as well as Master's and Professional Studies degrees in Voice from Manhattan School of Music.

Mialtin Zhezha | Violin

Hailed by The Hartford Courant for his “expressive and warm sound and faultless intonation,” Albanian-born Mialtin Zhezha is an accomplished violinist and violist. He has performed across the United States in venues such as in Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Miller Auditorium, and overseas in Piccini Hall in Italy, Red Hall in Kosovo, Great Britain, National Theatre and the Arts Academy Hall in Albania, Macedonia, and Greece. Mialtin is an avid chamber musician. He was invited by The Fontana Chamber Arts Society to premiere several works by Curtis Curtis-Smith and Carter Pane. He has also worked closely with musicians such as Pinchas Zukerman, Lawrence Dutton, Michael Tree, Robert Mann, and the Emerson and Tokyo Quartets.

Adrian Daurov | Cello

Adrian Daurov, at the age of 15, made his debut as soloist with the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra. Subsequently, he earned top honors at three international competitions - Bulgaria’s 1st International Music Competition “Coast of Hope” (First Prize, 1996); The Netherlands’ Peter De Grote International Music Competition (Grand Prix, 2002); New York City’s L.I.S.M.A. International Music Competition (First Prize, 2004). In 2004, he toured as soloist with the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, performing in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Warsaw and throughout Germany, and was appointed to the dual position of principal cellist and soloist with the Bayreuth Youth Festival Orchestra, under the baton of Peter Gulke.

Adrian Daurov has already presented the world premieres of two important works - In 2008, Fountains of Fin for flute, violin and cello by the Persian composer Behzad Ranjbaran and, in 2009, The Epistle - Concerto for Cello & Chamber Choir by the Siberian composer Yuri Yukechev, written for Mr. Daurov and the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York, Nikolai Kachanov, Artistic Director.

Adrian Daurov’s artistry has been heard on several radio and television stations, including WNYC, WQXR and NTV-America. He is also featured on a recent album by the young New York City-based jazz star Romain Collin.

Midori Witkoski | Viola

Midori is an avid performer, recording artist, and teacher based in New York City. She has performed with the Symphony of Westchester, Bronx Orchestra, the Highline String Quartet, among others. In addition to renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, Midori has had the privilege of performing at Suntory Hall in Tokyo for two summers with the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra. Midori received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Patinka Kopec, and Samuel Rhodes of the former Juilliard String Quartet.

Caroline Drexler is a New York City based violinist. As an enthusiastic orchestral musician, she is a roster musician with the Chamber Orchestra of New York and tenured chair with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera. She can also be seen performing with the American Ballet Theater orchestra, Symphony in C, and the Savannah Philharmonic. Caroline’s NYC performances have taken her to venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Merkin Hall.

As a recording artist, Caroline can be heard on projects for the Smithsonian Museum and Bungie Games. She appeared as a New York Fashion Week performer for designers such as Tory Burch and Dolce and Gabbana and as a guest performer on The Tonight Show. She’s performed with musicians including Michael Buble and Bernadette Peters.

Tia Allen | Viola

Tia Allen has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Metropolitan Museum, Royal Opera House of Muscat, and the Teatro Nacional in Santo Domingo. As a freelance artist in New York City she has performed with Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, The Eagles, Anderson Paak, Nas, Mark Ronson, Miley Cyrus, Cynthia Erivo, Shobean, Halsey, Kygo, Dua Lipa, Michael Bolton, Frank Ocean, Bebe Winans, Seal, and Cee-Lo to name a few. She is currently holding the viola chair in the Broadway show Jagged Little Pill (Broadhurst theatre). With a passion for chamber music she is the founder, director, and violist of Diverse Concert Artists with contracted performances at the Kennedy Center and BAM featuring Bryce Dessner’s Triptych (Eyes of One on Another). In addition, she performs with the Harlem Chamber players and the MUNY Program. As educator she teaches with the Harlem School for the Arts and has held an educational chamber music residency at the University of Iowa with Harlem Symphony Chamber Players and University of Massachusets, Lowell with Quatuor Mahogony.

Eric Eaton | Cello

Based out of New York City, cellist Eric Eaton has established a diverse performance career. He regularly performs with many orchestras in the New York area including the New York Chamber players, Urban Playground Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Of The Bronx, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and the Empire Chamber Orchestra. He has performed in many New York City venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, 54 Below, Mercury Lounge, Webster Hall, and Pacha. As a recording artist Eric has had the opportunity to work with many different groups and genres. He has appeared on albums with Lawrence Trailer, Hillary Capps, Jenna Marotta, Napoleon, and Shakira. In 2012 Eric performed with saxophonist Dave Liebman as part of the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Ensemble and appears on the album ‘Sky Changes’. He has also toured the country as part of the 2014-2015 production of Camelot.

Born in Kansas City Missouri Eric began studying cello at the age of ten. Three years later Eric won two concerto competitions performing the Saint-Saens cello concerto with the Independence Symphony and the Kansas City Youth Orchestra He attended the Manhattan

School of Music where he studied with David Geber and received his Bachelor degree in Cello Performance. In his studies Eric Eaton has had the pleasure to work with such cellists as Bonnie Hampton, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Orlando Cole, Margo Tatgenhorst Drakos and Lawrence Figg. Eric is a teaching artist with the Bridge Arts Ensemble working with school districts in the Adirondacks. Most recently he has enjoyed touring the world with Lincoln Center Stage performing piano quintets on board Holland America Line.

Caroline Cassio Drexler is a dynamic and nuanced violinist based in New York City. Philip Carter is a Philadelphia native violinist and violist. He moved to New York in 2010 to pursue his education as a student of Soovin Kim and Philip Setzer at Stony Brook University. He now lives in Astoria, Queens, where he maintains a studio of private students alongside his playing engagements. Philip has been active in chamber music his whole life, and has often been featured as a soloist with orchestra, performing twice with the Stony Brook University Orchestra, and several other times with local orchestras in the Philadelphia area, including the Kennett Symphony and the Philadelphia Sinfonia.

Molly Aronson | Cello

New York City based cellist Molly Aronson is a player known for her "solidity and verve" (San Francisco Classical Voice).
