What Parents Need to Know
Communications:
TYRO will be where we communicate, view student attendance and behaviour and also see exam results and the school calendar. You will receive a notification if your child is absent/ late without permission on TYRO.
Permission slips and fees will also be done via the app.
You can contact your child year head via the app. You are also required to explain student absences via the app in a timely manner.

Recording Homework:
We are moving to a digital platform for teachers assigning homework. Students will now get their homework as a teams assignment.
All your childs homework will now be recorded by their teachers in one central place so you can help them to stay on track!
Students will be provided with a journal as well if they wish to write down their homework as well.
3. Office 365- Outlook and Teams – student and teacher communication.
Each Year Group will have their own teams and also subject teams. Teachers will also use OneNote to upload class materials and Teams to assign homework
There is an online ICT information session for Parent/Guardians posted to the website in the ICT section for support and help. This will be updated in the coming months.

Email in or Ring the school – this can put the school office under enormous pressure and often communication can be delayed as a result. For serious or sensitive issues however please do let us know through the info account.

All visitors arriving to the school MUST have an appointment. Anyone without a pre-arranged appointment will be asked to leave and schedule through the app.

Lockers
•Every student will be assigned a locker – We will take note of which student owns what locker, it is up to each students to ensure that they look after their own locker.
•Students should only access their lockers in the morning before school starts, at tutor time, and at the start of lunch..
•Students will need to bring their bags, books, and iPads with them when leaving for break and lunch.
•This will stop blockages in the hallways after break and lunch and will also avoid our students missing class time.

Dress Code Updates 2026/27:
1st hoodies are ordered and on way- School trips and activities require school hoodie pending risk assessment
Tracksuits are permitted any day of the week
Normal procedures for Crop tops and short skirts etc.
What the policy says about 'When the dress code is not followed’
If a student's clothing does not meet the functional requirements of this policy:
Private Check-in: A staff member will speak with the student quietly, respectfully and with reference to this dress code.
Practical Solution: The student will be offered a simple way to resolve the issue (e.g., removing a hood, tucking in a drawstring, or borrowing a clean school hoodie/tracksuit for the day).
Dignity First: Students will not be required to stand in front of a class or a large group while their clothing is being discussed.
Family Support: If a student regularly struggles to meet the dress code, the Year Head will reach out to the family to see if there are underlying barriers (such as financial or sensory needs) where the school can provide support.
The dress code, as with all policies is supported by the Code of Positive behaviour. As agreed through stakeholder consultation: If the same issue happens three times, parents/guardians may be contacted, and you may be place on Extended Reflection Time.
Free Book Scheme – JC & SC
The free book scheme is now in place for all years.
Students should have received their hardbacks, copies, calculator.
Ebooks will be distributed in the coming days.
Students must have their own writing material- pens, pencils etc.
We ask that students mind their belongings
Please ensure items are labelled well!!!
School Calendar
Subject change of mind:
Your child will have until the end of September to change subject options.
We will try and accommodate as much as possible however there may be cases where there is no space in the classroom.
Health and safety:
For any Students that have any medical concerns we should be aware of could you please send on the appropriate details to myself on Tyro.
I will pass this information on to our Health and Safety officer who will then be in contact with you if necessary.
Please take note that Clonturk is a nut free school.
Extra Curricular
We have a wide variety of extra-curricular available to students and the list is continuing to grow each year.
All our extra curricular activities will be available for you to view on our website in a couple of weeks. Students will be informed how to sign up for each activity in school
We would therefore ask that all students get involved in some shape or form with after school activities.
