Grade Classification Standards

  • In high school, students do not fail and repeat an entire grade level.
  • Their grade level is based on their year in high school, plus the number of credits they have earned.
  • Students earn a ½ credit for each semester class they pass.
  • Typically, semesters of failed classes are only repeated if they are required for graduation.
  • There are multiple ways to regain credit for failed classes:
    • Summer school - registration in April/May
    • Repeat the class the following year
    • Credit by Exam - offered monthly
    • Digital Credit Recovery - during or after school on Thursdays

They pass the Spring semester with a yearly average of at least a 70.

  • Students must pass the Spring semester to earn credit for the whole year.
  • If they pass the Fall Semester, but fail the Spring Semester, they only earn half a credit for the Fall, not the Spring.
