FOUR BIGGEST ISSUES IN EVERY SPORT

  • #1 Playing Time

  • The best players play: Here’s how you become the best you can be:
    • Every player has countless hours/opportunities to prove their playing ability everyday at practice and games. Coaches are always watching and evaluating players on and off the field
    • Players that choose to participate in an outside sport or club not affiliated with ACHS during the ACHS Lacrosse Season will have their playing time affected. Players that are present for all practices/games will play over those that do not.

  • How to handle frustration with playing time:
    • Talk to your Offensive / Defensive Coordinator first
    • Talk to the Head Coach
    • Parents – Encourage your player to talk to coaches
    • If not satisfied email Coach Swanson for a face to face sit down meeting
    • If not satisfied with your meeting with Coach Swanson, contact Mr. Maloney.

FOUR BIGGEST ISSUES IN EVERY SPORT

  • Eligibility (Academic)
    • Coaches get an Academic Eligibility report every Thursday Afternoon. The eligibility beings on that following Monday.
    • Here is the district Academic eligibility 3 avenue policy:

  • IMPORTANT Players can correct any grade on Thursday afternoon, Friday or Monday by 9:00 a.m. to rectify their academic situation. For example, Player A is academically ineligible on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. He retakes a test after school on Thursday and brings his GPA up and is now eligible for the following week. Player also needs that teacher to email Mrs. Humann in the athletic office and Coach Swanson.

Besides academics there are other ways athletes can be suspended from practice and games:

      • Ditching classes or school
      • Fighting in school
      • Threatening others in school or on social media
      • Attending parties or gatherings where there is alcohol, tobacco or vaping
      • Any use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine pouches, or vapes

  • Athletes must be in school for 4 periods in order to practice/play in a game that day.
