What is the CATCH Coordination Kit?

  • CATCH is an acronym that stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health.

  • Within the CATCH Program, the main resource wellness leaders and teams use to achieve coordination around health and wellness initiatives is the Coordination Kit.

  • The Coordination Kit is not a curriculum. It is a roadmap designed to get an entire campus involved in the process of implementing a coordinated approach to building a whole child supportive school environment and a culture of health and wellness.

  • It provides a framework, resources and a common language for talking about and reinforcing healthy behaviors and mindsets.

  • It contains:
    • 4 All-In CATCH Challenges (roughly one per grading period) that encourage and normalize aligned health and wellness messaging as a school community in order to establish and reinforce a culture of health and wellness at school
    • aligned coordination extensions to maximise impact throughout the school environment including embedded whole school SEL connections

  • Implementing the simple and doable activities in the Coordination Kit lays the foundation for healthy students, healthy families, healthy faculty & staff-- a healthy school community.

  • In order to serve the whole child, a school should also have dedicated instructional time for health education, physical education and social-emotional learning. The Coordination Kit does not replace health education including social-emotional learning or physical education.
