What about Specials?

  • Students will attend each of their specials- music/technology, art, and PE once a week as a homeroom.
  • Spanish is being offered twice a week this year.

Socks:

  • Boys: solid white crew socks
  • Girls: solid maroon, gray or white socks

Jewelry:

  • one ring, one bracelet, post earrings, one necklace w/ religious medal, one wristwatch (no smartwatches)

Uniform Days:

  • Girls’ skirt length should not be shorter than 2” above the knee. Please use best judgement
  • No hoop earrings, make-up or nail polish
  • Boys’ and Girls’ dress shirts should be tucked in
  • Boys’ hair needs to be above earlobes, eyebrows, and dress shirt collar at rest

Uniform Basics

Spirit Wear Days:

  • Pants - Presentable jeans or pants are acceptable. Sweatpants and joggers are acceptable. Opaque leggings or spandex are allowed only with an accompanying top which covers to mid-thigh. Pajama pants are not permitted. No rips, tears, or sheer sections.

Shorts must be visible under shirts and may only be worn during summer uniform days

  • No smartwatches or fitness trackers
  • Generic or brand name hoodies/sweatshirts are not acceptable in the classroom and must be left in lockers other than recess. School sweaters (or PE sweatshirts on PE day) should be worn if your child is cold.

Behavior Expectations

Students are expected to:

  • Come to class with appropriate supplies.
  • Be respectful towards property, teachers, staff, and peers.
  • Turn in work on time.
  • Be on time for class
  • Participate in class.
  • Study for tests and quizzes.
  • Ask if they do not understand a concept, answer, question, or assignment. If it is a greater lack of understanding, or requires additional help they should ask to schedule a tutoring session.
  • Go to Study Hall to make up missed tests or complete late work.

7th grade is a time for the students to start taking responsibility for their actions and their work.

HOWEVER, they may still rely on you for:

  • Proofreading, clarification on questions, and guidance, if they ask
  • Keeping them supplied with paper, pens etc. as needed
  • Making sure their uniforms meet the requirements outlined in the handbook
  • Double checking Powerschool regularly

They should NOT be relying on you for:

  • Bringing in things that they have forgotten.
  • Pleading for extra time for an assignment. If extra time is needed, the student should approach the teacher ahead of the due date and explain why extra time is needed.

  • Students have the same number of days they were absent to complete and turn in missing work for full credit.
  • However, it is their responsibility to email the teacher and check Google Classroom/PowerSchool to find out what they missed when they were absent.
  • After 2 weeks, late work will not be accepted.

Class Parties:

  • Halloween, Christmas, and End of Year
  • Class parties are planned by homeroom parents, and there will be a form for you to opt in to those communications. They will plan activities and snacks, but require your support to help make them a fun and memorable experience!

Homework: 4-10 points per week (M-Th)

Classwork: 10-15 points per graded classwork

Notebook: 5-10 points biweekly

Graded Assignments: 20-40 points each

Tests and Projects: 41-65 points each

For Miss Rittershofer’s class only, Drills: 8-15 points per week

Homework assignments are communicated in class and posted on Google Classroom. Students are expected to have the homework completed to the best of their ability prior to the start of class. Homework will not be taken one day late unless there are extenuating circumstances communicated before the due date.

Math: Test Corrections

Test corrections are Mandatory for scores below a C.

    • Students who receive less than a C will have to complete test corrections which consist of an explanation of: why the question was marked wrong, how is it completed correctly, and the correct answer. Students may be required to attend a study session for corrections.
    • Students who receive a C or above may choose to do test corrections if they would like.
    • Test corrections are entered into PowerSchool as a separate assignment

  • As the scope and abilities of AI increase, it is very easy to think that we do not need to write anymore.

  • This couldn’t be further from the truth.

  • If your child is tempted to plagiarize, please remind them that their teachers are here to help them learn.

  • We do not want to grade someone, or something else’s work.

  • We want to see their abilities and help them to improve.
