SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

1.To express daily activities or habits.

Eg. She usually goes to school by bus.

2. To express general/universal truths.

Eg. The earth goes round the sun.

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE FORM

Subject + verb + object

Subject could be – I / you / they/ we/ he/ she/ it

• If the subject is ‘you’ or ‘I’ or in plural form, there is no change needed in the base form of the verb.

Eg. They go to the church on Sundays.

I go to the church on Sundays.

• If the subject is singular , the ‘s’ form of the verb is used .

Eg. She goes to the church on Sundays .

He goes to the church on Sundays .

• I /you/we/they + verb (base form)

Eg. I write a letter .

You write a letter.

We write a letter.

They write a letter.

• He /she/it + verb+s/es

Eg. He writes a letter .

She writes a letter.

It grows on the pot .
