NorCal ELC - Equity

Consider equity in your own setting.

Is my school an inclusive environment that fosters a sense of belonging by honoring the dignity of every person?

What supports and resources does

each of my students need to reach

his or her greatest potential?

NorCal ELC - Continuous Improvement

“Building the Habits of Continuous Improvement”

  • Addressing CI through an “Equity Lens” to create a student-centered culture
  • Using CI tools to understand problems & implementing small tests of change
  • Using data (both quantitative and qualitative) to provide evidence of effective, impactful systems & practices
  • Using the voices of the traditionally underserved to measure impact
  • Building leadership capacity that creates a CI culture
  • Apply CI process to a variety of problems of practice

Exemplar Model of the CI Process: Vanessa Ortiz

NorCal ELC - Building Leadership Capacity

Def = What one learns individually while participating in the act of addressing an issue (your PoP), resulting in additional personal professional growth.

The Hidden Curriculum

“Who I am today versus who I was a year ago at my first NorCal SI is so interesting to me. I was so nervous and not knowing what I was doing last year. It was my first real time taking on leadership and I didn't know how I could do it. Today, I feel good leading my team through our Ignite presentation, helping to lead our new team, and presented! If you told me I'd be a presenter last year, I would have thought- NO WAY. It is through the thoughtful, incremental leadership in this program that has led me to be able to be here today.” (Sarah Lee, Teacher, Butte)
