What Jesus expects of us

Read:

Matthew 22:37-40 (Contemporary English Version) 37 Jesus answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.” 40 All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets[a] are based on these two commandments.

How should we treat other people?

  • Be kind and considerate to all people.
  • Do not be selfish.
  • Never think you are better than others.
  • Help your neighbour where you can.
  • Be patient with your neighbour.
  • Forgive people who wrong you.
  • Do not fight with your friends.

Philippians 2 New International Version

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus for loving us first. Thank you for caring us every day. Please help us to love our neighbour as ourselves. Please help us to respect all the people we encounter. Help us not to think we are better than others. Help us to forgive other people for what they have done to us. Please forgive our sins.
