BES Fellowship Minimum Requirements

The Fellowship selection process is extremely rigorous, designed to truly understand who you are as a leader, your proposed community, and your vision for a high-achieving, locally responsive school.

The following are the minimum requirements that we look for during the selection process. To be considered for the BES Fellowship, all candidates must have:

Minimum Requirements

Eight years of full-time professional experience
Two years working in PreK-12 education
Two years of management experience in PreK-12 setting
Instructional teaching or leadership experience

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Action
Commitment to Excellence for All Students

The BES Fellowship has a highly competitive application process, receiving over 400 applications for just 10-12 spots each year.

We prioritize applicants who demonstrate a strong connection to their community and whose school designs emphasize academic excellence and DEI principles.

To be considered, you must have:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or Professional degree preferred
8 years work experience required
2 years experience working in PreK-12 required; 5 preferred
2 years management in PreK-12 setting required, 2 years of Principal or School Leader experience preferred
Instructional teaching or instructional leadership experience required
At least 2 years living or working in proposed region preferred; connection to and rationale for the proposed community required

Additionally, we assess candidates based on five selection competencies.
