Here’s what the current Training Videos page looks like. As you can see, the videos are simply stacked with little context or guidance. There’s no instructional scaffolding or defined learning path to help participants and practitioners progress.

There are no stated learning objectives, assessments, or even reflection prompts. Learners just watch passively, without support to reflect, apply, or test their understanding.

The page also lacks a connection to our broader curriculum. There’s no indication of where this fits within the overall learning journey at EET.

Finally, accessibility is minimal. There are no transcripts, no alt text for thumbnails, and no text-based options for learners who need alternatives.

These gaps are why this redesign is needed—and why we have a great opportunity to make it much more dynamic and learner-centered.

Here’s the vision for this pilot redesign.

First, we’ll transform the existing content into a structured, accessible microlearning experience. This helps learners move through the material confidently, rather than feeling lost in a stack of videos.

We’ll keep the scope manageable with one focused pilot module: Safe Leading & Groundwork Basics. This allows us to test the concept and gather feedback before expanding.

To make the learning more engaging, we’ll add reflection prompts, a downloadable printable checklist, and light interactivity to support skill application.

Finally, we’ll address critical accessibility gaps by including captions, transcripts, and alt text—so the learning works for everyone, regardless of their needs.

These four elements work together to give us a low-risk, high-impact way to improve learning outcomes.

This pilot has the potential to create meaningful impact across four key areas.

First, it will improve onboarding efficiency. Our new practitioners will have clearer, more structured guidance as they develop foundational skills, reducing confusion and accelerating readiness.

Second, it enhances safety and performance. By boosting learner confidence and retention of safety protocols, we reduce risk and help participants build the right habits from day one.

Third, it supports mission alignment. This project reflects EET’s commitment to improving the lives of both veterans and horses. By helping participants and practitioners build safe, confident partnerships through Natural Horsemanship practices, we further our mission of healing, empowerment, and humane training.

And finally, this serves as a model module for future training. It gives us a low-risk way to test a learning experience approach that doesn’t require an LMS, yet still provides structure, engagement, and accessibility. If successful, this framework can easily expand to other content areas.

I will lead design and development, with light collaboration from SMEs

MY ROLE

To keep this pilot manageable and efficient, I’ve scoped it tightly to four clear parameters.

First, this will be a Phase 1 pilot using just four of the existing videos, one printable resource, and a simple web-based module. It allows us to test the concept without overextending our resources.

Second, there’s no need for a Learning Management System (LMS). We’ll use the existing website infrastructure to host and deliver the content in a streamlined, accessible format.

Third, this is a low-tech, high-impact solution. Even with limited interactivity, we can drive engagement and learning through printable checklists, reflection prompts, and structured guidance—all while making it mobile-friendly and accessible.

Finally, I will own the design and development process, with only light collaboration needed from SMEs to validate and enhance the content. This keeps the ask of the team very reasonable at this early stage.
